Economics Thread

I would have told him back in the Spring that planting a crop targeted for export to China was probably not a good idea when the guy just elected was already pushing a trade war with China. He should have given me a call.
I’m actually pretty anti-farm bailouts just like any other business. I could see maybe meeting somewhere in the middle and providing some sort of nominal assistance to provide families losing farms with some sort of help in maintaining a homestead or something, but I’m not really a fan of jumping in to help some specific businesses to stay afloat while letting others go under.

Ideally the Mormons would buy it and turn it into more beef pasture. $8/lb ground beef is cramping my style.
Go in with someone and buy a cow. have it cut up the way you want.

Or, start shooting deer. I'm not sure where you are, but we shoot more than we can eat. I'd be happy to get you some.

Grew up eating venison (family is massive hunters)but parents weren’t exactly top tier chefs, so I think my taste is forever tainted. I find it to dry.

Gimme a cow every day

I really should start hunting again. My real concern is that if I noticed it, people tighter on cash are noticing it. Tariffs shouldn’t be impacting the price of beef but that’s where everyone’s mind will go.

It is leaner, and its not corn finished.

You have the processor add some beef fat to it, and boom can't tell the difference. They do that with my sausage (wild pork and deer) and it turns out really great. I get my sausage smoked so its not that raw fatty stuff that makes the grill flare up like store bought.

As long as someone is ok paying the processor fee which is likely 150-200 bucks I'll provide anyone with a deer that wants it.

Deer tenderloin is as good as it gets folks. Can give you the recipe and everything.

Time spent in the woods is never wasted. My two boys want to go more than I do, but I always say yes and its always worth it.
