Economics Thread

I've been buying all week. We've seen this scene before. Fed will intervene. Money will be printed. Trump will concede while claiming victory. Markets will soar. Poor people will suffer

Rinse repeat
So no printing

No concession

Markets have soared.

Poor people have gotten huge reprieves in lower costs and higher real wages.

This thread is full of fun dire predictions of what would happen with trumps agenda.

Eventually though these policies will lead to a recession….when that front loaddd inventory expires…

I know this is war but some resolution needs to occur with China. I hope they lose bigly, but financial markets running on prolonged uncertainty is like a car running on no oil. At some point the engine is going to break.

Xi and Donald should be forced in a room by the rest of the 8 billion people on earth and they are not allowed to come out until they come to an agreement.

How long have they now been running on no oil? Wild that markets are still bullish in future.

Ok how should we measure that outcome? should we expect Mexico's trade deficit with China be reduced? Should we expect their imports from America to increase?
Hey now / I believe Mexico has followed suit and put significant pressure on their Chinese trade deals.

Success!

Strongly disagree. This is the only guy in that administration who's making any sense.

IMO, they should just lean into the national defense argument. I think you could sell me on the concept of tariffs for national defense reasons, and people hate China enough that they'll stomach higher prices if it means we’re no longer reliant on them. Just stop gaslighting us with nonsense about how this will be an economic boon.
China is being hurt while we have an economic boom.

Who could have guessed?

I for one am shocked that the market is responding negatively to a long since debunked 17th century economic theory

Responded so poorly! Great call!!

Ah you meant responded poorly over a whole multiple day sample. Forgot those are the importsnt timelines as we’ve reach record highs on the markets at year end.

When Honda Civics cost $60k, people won’t be bothered to try to understand the long term vision of the beauty of manufacturing toasters in the US. Press Secretary Leavitt should rip the bandaid off now.

Haven’t seen many civics for 60k out there have you?

America first means asking Americans to pay more for what they buy, then taking their tax dollars to pay off favored industries harmed by the policies that caused said rise in prices.

Man Americans are paying so much more because of tariffs. Soon the shelves will be empty!

Hard to get on board the “let’s give him a chance and wait and see” train when he shows no evidence of understanding how any of this works. The contradictions are endless. Trump doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Doesn’t understands any of it. Just happen to have the economy purring in less than one year after the autopen regime destroyed it.
