I don’t believe it because I don’t see India purchasing ten times as much from us in exchange for an 18% tariff rate on exports.
Especially when it’s just some figure Donald Trump said:
Did India really commit $500 billion to the US, or is the number just big talk?
While US President Donald Trump laid out the figure in public, the Indian government has so far not specified what such a commitment involves, raising questions over its scale, timing and credibility.

Sorry, I should have thanked dear leader for the 10x increase to our exports, just as he previously has done with all these other countries the past year. We have trillions and trillions of dollars coming in from these new trade deals, everything is cheaper now and we all got new manufacturing jobs from the booming economy. Praise be.
I’m sure that I won’t, but not for the reasons you think.
Yes, the one questioning whether it’s realistic for India to go from buying $40 billion worth of US exports to $500 billion is the one being dramatic, not the one declaring victory due to it.
My least favorite things, for sure.
