Maybe she needs investment advice from Pelosi

Another person who angers me deeply and a great example for the need for term limits. There’s absolutely no excuse for members of Congress to be trading stocks. Even if they are careful enough to not make it obvious, there’s just such an obvious issue here.

I can’t lie, that’s pretty funny. Warren isn’t dumb, she is just deeply on message, whether it’s true or not. Big companies are always going to be bad, profits should always go down and wages should always go up. Going after specific companies like she does feels like a winning strategy electorally, so why veer off course?

Edited to add: to be clear, this isn’t a defense of Warren. I find this to be actively worse. There are a lot of ways in which Warren could be an impactful person in reaching across the aisle to disaffected rural voters with her people-first message, but playing politics when you’re knowingly wrong damages trust immediately.

She is demonizing an industry that doesn't deserve to be. but grocery stores are where people are most visibly seeing the inflation disaster and so she thinks she can play the whole greedy capitalism nonsense angle.

youre probably right that it appeals to her voters... But that is also very telling

Is it really that telling? Monopolization is an actual issue that affects many voters, and many of the mega corporations don’t exactly endear themselves to the public in many cases. It’s unlikely that a significant number of voters would have even a cursory knowledge of the profit margins of the grocery industry, but they do see the price jumps and how it affects them. That’s why it annoys me that Warren would take this position. She’s preying on an obvious pain point and assuming that voters aren’t magically subject matter experts on the costs incurred by grocery stores. I think it says more about her than the voters, as most people just don’t have the time to research the subject.

BREAKING: President Biden has directed federal agencies to RAISE the minimum wage for Federal workers to $15.

BTW - Peter Navaro called this crash in mid November.

Just a nice little thing because the lecturer always said he was an imbecile.

Good thing us deplorables know where to get real news and secure our finances.

I’d have to question the new cars line. They are as much as 20% more than 99-2000

We just bought one. My guess is that this chart is using MSRP to calculate the prices, and that is going to make it far too low. We went to one of a very few dealerships in the metro that was claiming to sell at MSRP. They still tried to tack on $6k worth of dealer installed nonsense. We fought hard just to get out at the sticker price. New car buying is a nightmare for the consumer right now.

Friend of mine owns a bar. He only has 60% of the staff he needs/used to have, so he is relying on those staff to fill the void. His margins are less than 3% so he can't afford to raise pay more than he already has without raising prices. Last time he rose prices, overall sales fell.

He fully admits he's working his current staff more than he wishes but can't operate the place without doing so. He keeps interviewing people to join, offering $14 hr, and nobody wants to work.

He knows this is unsustainable and probably understands his business is in trouble. He has to decide whether to invest in marketing/promotions, or staff.

Goodness gracious.

And if you aren't a laptop worker you most likely didn't get a large raise.

Tens of millions of families are struggling mightily right now.

They will have their voices heard in November.

Man, every restaurant I see has a help wanted sign

Cause most places you don’t make enough to have to put up with literally pieces of human **** and what they they think they deserve and expect as if they are gods gift to the world

I don't know about all that, but I don't remember seeing all these signs at restaurants a few years back.

yeah, there's a lot of turnover in that industry and only gotten worse cause of how awful the general public is. it's just not worth putting up with these days with the most entitled of entitled ****sticks that think putting a mask on if the place says that's the rule etc is tyranny

if you have friends in that industry, the bull**** they put up with from the general public is astounding. you should talk to them about it

Level 1:
amazing how fast "stop whining and get a better job" turned into

"stop whining and keep your minimum wage job so I can have my McChicken"
