It is so far a terrible list.
No way should Chipper not be top 50 and Spahn needs to be top 20 imo
I mean Manny and Ortiz are both rated higher then chipper.
Joke

Any list like this will have massive issues.

How do you weigh top players at relative positions. For example, the 5th best 2B in fWAR of all time has one of 78.6. 5th best catcher 63.7. 5th best RF 104.0. 5th best LF 106.3

How many spots do you reserve for pitchers? etc.

Chipper at 78 is a joke

I think that's low, but it's not that far off. Especially with Negro League players. And how likely they are to overrate pitchers. Chipper being somewhere around 35th best position player is fair. Because as I laid out above, there is some positional issues. Sure Chipper's 84.6 fWAR is great, tied for 5th with Brett. Teh bigger crime was Brooks RObinson being higher. Swap him and Robinson that's fine. But remember people overrate older generation top notch defenders like (Ozzie and Brooks being common ones)

But like I said above it's hard to get in there and make an argument that he should be higher than Gary Carter who's at 69.4 but is the second highest catcher ever?

Similar with DH how the **** do you handle that? Certainly by not including David Ortiz. Most overrated player ever.

Don't think Chipper is a top 50 player ever personally. So 78 isn't far off. Probably deserves higher than 78 though.

The more egregious move is having Bryce Harper anywhere on this list. Just wow.

Also Jeter will undoubtedly be in the top 50. There is no universe where Derek Effing Jeter is a top 50 overall player ever. I mean A-Rod had nearly as much career WAR at SS in 8 years than Jeter did in 20 years. He's a fantastic player, but he's absolutely the most overrated player ever.

Cal Ripken deserves to be higher as well.

Yeah Jeter is going to be top 10. I wouldn't rate him too 10000 though. Never accomplished anything with a real team.

According to ESPN

30: Pujols

28: Jeter

Like...how

And what did they put Harper at?

Only active player that deserves to be on this list that's in the middle of his career is Trout. Harper, when he's finished playing, will deserve to be on this list but I agree he shouldn't sniff it right now.

Harper was 94 or 95 I think. Still, the fact he is on this list at all is laughable. Also Max Scherzer, Ortiz, and Kershaw are all above guys like Ripken, Chipper, Niekro, and Thome (supremely underrated on this list). Frank Thomas is at 45th (what???)

Jeter should be in the 80's or 90's somewhere, he's better than Barry Larkin but probably not better than Robin Yount/Robbie Alomar. He certainly wasn't better than Cal Ripken Jr., who has more career WAR at SS in 15 years than Jeter did in 20.

Also, Reggie Jackson is at 55 and Whitey Ford is at 60..... huh??? Josh Gibson, who never played an inning of MLB is 35th..... you can't make up just how incredibly ****ty this list is. I feel like this list was made by a bunch of 25 year old Yankee fans who don't know who half of these players are.

Which is fair. Hank, Mays and Ruth have be some order of 1,2,3. And Since Mays and Hank played the same era you directly compare them. Mays was a slightly better player.

It just comes down to where you put Ruth in there. Ruth changed the came entirely and clearly smashed all his competition. But he never had to face the level of talent Aaron and Mays had.

Spicy take, Trout is too low. Even if his career ended right now. He was better than Griffey.

Griffey was too high though. He should have been around 25-30. And somehow I missed Rivera not only being on this list, but being top 31... As if this list wasn't terrible enough.

Not sure how David Ortiz made this list while Edgar Martinez and Eddie Murray missed it.

I feel like Albert Belle should have been over Ortiz lol

Thats a pretty dad gum good ranking for Smoltz. I'm a huge fan and feel like he was really not talked about enough but 93 is dang solid.
