Glavine or Niekro? I'm biased, but I feel Glavine was a more accomplished pitcher. Niekro basically pitched forever and compiled.

Niekro had a career 115 ERA+, Glavine 118. Negligible difference.
Niekro struck out 5.6 per 9 vs Glavine 5.3
Niekro walked 3.0 per 9 vs. Glavine 3.1
You're not wrong that Niekro's value is mainly because of him pitching forever, but he was better up til the same age as Glavine.
Glavine is great. I'm not trying to slight him. But Niekro is ahead of him if you're going for more cumulative stats Niekro is top dog. If you're thinking who was more interesting of a pitcher, it's Niekro. Niekro is the Knuckleball and that holds something huge. Us Braves fans more fondly remember Glavine for his post season heroics. But average fans probably don't draw that same point. Especially older fans who saw Niekro pitch for 20+ years for the Braves, et al.
