Fangraphs Braves Prospect List

I think there has to be a happy medium between taking his BABIP at face value and completely discounting his production for the level at his age.

Yeah, he's not going to keep up what he was doing, but it was still somewhat impressive.

Getting to that level is impressive by itself.

I do think people have a point when they bring up the lack of ST PAs Waters got. He's obviously still a good prospect, but at this point I personally rank him behind Pache, Anderson (who isn't really a prospect anymore), Harris, and both 45+ catchers Lango and Contro. If something clicks he could shoot up to being the best prospect in the system, but I don't see the same improvements being made yet that I see with Pache and Harris (and by "see" I mean "read about from my home office 2000 miles away").

Everyone can have their own opinion. I think there are red flags for Waters. And betting against any prospect outside of the top 10 is a safe bet.

I think it is perfectly reasonable to say Waters isn't going to be as good Pache, Anderson, etc.

I do think it is strange that some say he won't be more than 1 WAR. This year is obviously huge for him. But next year we have some guys getting significantly more expensive. I think the most likely solution is a DH and Waters playing in LF. Assuming we have a season next year with labor issues.

I still go back to this is a guy that is ranked in the top 100 by most people. Young for his level. Switch hitting can take some time. Elite bat speed and feel for the bat. I think he'd be plus in LF. There is a lot to like. I like him a lot more thank I ever liked Riley as a prospect and Riley has gotten a long leash.

If the Indians want him as the center piece for a ramirez deal, then let's do it. But unless we are looking at an impact guy for multiple years I think he's our LF until Harris pushes him out.
