Farewell to Wood, Peraza, Jimmy Johns, and Avilans.

Not getting much from the national media because they are only talking about Cole Hamels and Wilmer Flores crying on the field.

Oh, and the Mets are stupid for leaving him out there.

Paco's a Gator. So that's nice. In fact, replacing a Bulldog with a Gator dramatically decreases the evil-to-virtue ratio on our team.

Wow. Damn.

Pretty good piece , and along with our rumored spending spree for Intls could load us up.

Considering Oliveras bonus has been paid, we would have him for 5 yrs at 32 mill?

6 years / $34.5m for Olivera.

If Alex Wood is a super two and stays healthy, I'd guesstimate 4 years / $30m. If he's not a super two and stays healthy, I'd guesstimate 4 years / $25m.

I'm always in the market to trade pitching because of the attrituion factor. Thats why I love that the Braves continually acquired more pitching. I don't think its completely unreasonable to think that Wood could have another injury in the next 2-3 years. I'd rather not have another JJ/Hanson/Beachy.

Then shouldnwe trade Miller and Tehran?

It's unreasonable to expect it like you do.

I'm sorry, but Wood doesn't have to be considered an imminent injury risk to justify the trade. That's nonsense.

How do we know if that money was approved for him? How do we know how the negotiations went. Maybe teh Dodgers swooped in at the last minute with a take it or leave it offer. I don't think we can just combine those two decisions.

No matter what, the only pieces of real consequence are Wood, Peraza, and Olivera. You can make a good argument that we have up the 2 best pieces for the 3rd. That's terrible.

People bitch about having no position players, then bitch when you get one.

This is a blast though. I like having us mixed up in a bunch.

Yea, well it apparently is a little too much to ask for one who has recorded an MLB at bat. But then again, it's not like we traded away a talented, 24-year-old lefty under control for four more seasons.

This is pretty epic, though.

I hate trading Wood and I generally don't agree with the process of trading for a 30 year old, but Oliviera might be really really good.

There's upside to the trade. But it's entirely dependent on him reaching his upside.

I agree if he was 26-27 but at 30, he has maybe 3-4 good years?

If hes legit.

Well if he was proven he isn't probably attainable. it goes both ways

Phil get Rangers #'s 4, 5, 6, and 17 prospects along with a serviceable SP in Harrison and Asher.

Sounds good on the surface, but how good are the Ranger's prospect? I ask because I have no idea. If the Rangers have a great system then good for them, if they have a lame system then it's not a great return.

Who on our current team is more valuable right now than Wood? Freeman, Simmons, Miller....that's pretty much it. So we gave up our 4th best trade piece and Peraza for Olivera. Sweet!
