While I don't necessarily disagree with the point you guys are trying to make....a 12 person sample (with no context provided) in a country of 300+ million people? I don't think that sort of cherry picking moves the conversation in a productive direction.
I tend not to respond to memes because most of them are stupid and lazy.

Totally agreed. But I love the lack of responses. It did make me think though about some of the most heinous murders who were apprehended.

We have hardly any blacks in my town. It's easy to double take when you DO see them as it's so rare. I personally wish there were more, as all the blacks I've known personally are wonderful people.

In the rather less-than-adequately integrated town where I grew up, it didn't take much conversation with black guys of my age to learn about the Jump-Out Boys—cops, all white, who cruised the black neighborhoods and frisked and harassed young men who had the temerity to be walking the streets.
Don't get me wrong. I'm sensitive to the predicament of the police—they're public servants doing a dangerous job who are usually overworked and underpaid. Like I said in the other thread, my brother is a cop. It's easy for me to put him in the place of a shooter in a situation like this. Still, anyone who is suggesting that there isn't a cruel double standard based on race and class, applied to blacks in the criminal justice system, is being willfully obtuse. It's a negative-feedback loop. The message that you won't get a fair shake from the the cops is reinforced in certain segments of society, and it all too often plays out tragically.

Cops aren't really at relative risk of death in those countries though. The comparison is pretty much worthless because of that.
So what do we need to do to decrease the risk of cop deaths in the country so that we can in turn decrease the risk of deaths caused by police in this country. Are we willing to have that conversation? I doubt it.

No, I'm saying that there's a concerted effort in this country by those in governmental power to remove all guns from the homes of all Americans. Notice how much ammo "Homeland Security" has been purchasing lately. Their goal is to eventually contain us with their weapons when we have no ability to defend ourselves.
