Ferguson....

I'm not a police officer; they should be held to a higher standard of discretion since they are permitted a legal monopoly on lethal force in most circumstances.

So police officers should be able to subdue 300 pound men that punch them in the face and break bones while they are charged at them?

I can't imagine how this it is the cops fault, that while injured, he couldn't subdue an angry 300 pound man without use of a gun. Is he supposed to be able to out wrestle him? Does he have to risk his life because the guy isn't armed? If Brown takes the officers guy, how many people would he kill with it?

A normal response to police showing up should not be rioting. It just shouldnt. Your analogies do not correlate to this situation at all.

The normal response to someone showing up in force is to do what then. What is the normal response?

Sure you would be. And you would have been happy when they dispersed the protestors who were helping protect your business from looters and let more looters in too right? Yay for police states.

That has absolutely no impact on my satisfaction with the police protecting order in the area. It's not the polices fault that the people were being completely irrational.

It doesn't but it hints at a bigger problem does it not? you're putting all the blame on the protestors when the police absolutely share in the blame for escalating the situation.

If I call you a douchebag, you push me I punch you, I'm not justified in my punching you, but you escalated the incidentwhen it didn't need to be escalated and I continued escalating.

Because police didn't burn down buildings and loot businesses. That is just an excuse to riot.

Your reasoning is terrible.

Lets all admit our bias. You first.

I'm biased against militarized police. I think they're horrible and the US's use of them certainly isn't a good thing. When I see armored vehicles rolling down a street using sound weapons on american citizens, I get sick to my stomach. If I could I'd get all of those weapons they have and throw them into a volcano because they shouldn't be used on US Citizens.

I've touched on this already, and stop moving the goalposts. Just admit your bias. It will remove such a burden from your heart.

I'm not moving the goalpoztz. We are talking about what could have possibly happened to change what we think happened. There is no evidence to prove the cop did anything but defend himself.

Brown isn't dead today because there is some Co s piracy against black youth. He is dead today because he made awful choices.

Maybe—just maybe—it isn't the acute cause of Brown's slaying, but there certainly is "some conspiracy against black youth" in this country.

The normal response for police showing up is to get out of their way, AMIRITE? Or is it find the Quickstop and burn that mutha****a down?

What the ****. Are you trolling just for ****s at this point? If not I feel bad for you.

Mass amounts of U.S. citizens also shouldn't be burning buildings down and shooting live bullets at police. AMIRITE?

Like Giles said. Find out what is going on and then make sure my personal property is protected. I'm not going to get into the cops faces when they are there to protect us.

It's interesting battle between you and thethe to see who can say the dumbest thing in this thread, and I'm not sure who the winner is. Maybe you should ride an escalator and see what happens then things start going up.

When a cop rolls into a legal peaceful protest with military gear, they're there to protect you? Well this country is ****ed if people think that.

Thats fine....I've never said that blacks dont' have an uphill climb. I've just said they should be getting out at higher rates then they should and that they are making it harder on themselves.

This case has nothing to do with that though. This is about a kid making awful decisions that led to his untimely death.

You're a tool if you think that a local police department would have been able to control the situation. Again, business owners are ecstatic that a proper force came into the town.

Your hyperbole hurts this discussion because you know you can't argue the actual facts.
