FF didn't play chicken. The Braves didn't do a great job either.. but the majority of blame seems to be with FF former agent (he fired them afterwards) But the Braves offered a weak offer and basically handed him over to the Dodgers. The Braves essentially paid millions more and longer years for an inferior 1B along with prospects to obtain him. AA should have reached out to FF personally but number geeks typically don't understand the human element and go by the numbers and when the numbers offered didn't elicit a response, he moved on. It is what it is, but he will move on from Atlanta one day regretting that whole ordeal, because it will be his worst decision.
AA is one of the more personal GMs in the game. He just has a rule about going around agents, and it’s honestly a good one. I’m sure most respectable executives have the same rule. Undermining the agent is how you gain a bad reputation.
