FIFA World Cup 2014

Was that a legit red card on the Ecuador captain? It looked like there was zero intent and was pretty unavoidable.

My picks to advance from group stage. I know nothing about soccer.

Brazil and Mexico

Spain and Chile

Colombia and Greece

England and Italy

Ecuador and France

Argentina and Bosnia

Germany and Portugual

Russia and Algeria

Just checking in on my predictions.

Group A: 2/2

Group B: 1/2

Group C: 2/2

Group D: 0/2

France advances and so does Argentina. Germany is pretty safe as well.

It's hard. What makes it a red awas that his clete when up than down his leg. If he just stepped on him or maybe even if he just went up or down he would have been OK. I don't think it was intentional. But he didn't fight it for a reason because he knew he was on a razor's edge between a yellow and red and he did nothing to help his case during or after the play.

Still think it's crazy that Nigeria is going through. Did not see that happening.

Obviously Bosnia is the better team, but when you get the benefit of a legit goal taken away, anything can happen in a short 3 match period.

Absolutely. Bosnia is legit great. I'm just shocked that right now Nigeria, Costa Rica and Greece are all bracket busting, not to mention the US and Algeria could be as well

On the eve of maybe the biggest game in US Soccer's recent history the US lines up in the match with probably the most headlines going in of any match. Klinsmann the man who revived German soccer, playing Germany with the group and perhaps advancing to the group of 16 on the line. US will have at least 2 German-American players starting on the pitch. Potentially 2 coming off the bench depending on what result we need. Can the US bounce back on short rest after a heart wrenching draw? Student vs the Master. And so many more headlines you could make up.

For the USA and Germany, the matches will be played heavily in the middle as both are central built teams. Don't expect too many crosses to come flying in on either side. In many ways the US is set up perfectly for Germany especially with the form of Besler, Beckerman, Jones, and aside from a horrible clearance Cameron. US absolutely needs Michael Bradley to play better. Bradley is the only shot they have of breaking down the German central mids. I really wish Jozy was playing to run against Hummels but one can only hope for a top quality game.

Regardless of the US result, go draw portugal/ghana.

Side note, this made me lol.

Wow, Ghana sent Muntari and Boateng home. They have little chance most likely now to get through without 2 of their best players. Of course Boateng hasn't been playing that much but Muntari was key for their point against Germany.

2 lineup changes for the Red White and Blue.

GK - Howard
RB - Johnson
CB - Gonzilla
CB - Besler
LB - Beasley
CDM - Beckerman
CDM - Jones
RM - Zusi
CM - Bradley
LM - Davis
ST - Dempsey

Looks like with Davis out there US is preparing themselves for their best opportunity to possess the ball against the Germans. Also have their 2 best set piece takers on the pitch. So I'm guessing their plan is to both retain control as well as to give themselves their best shot at scoring from setpieces with Gonzilla on the pitch looks like US is gonig to force Germany to keep it on the ground.

Gonzilla has been huge so far today. Only chances the Germans have had he's cut out. Needs to keep playing on that level.

Tense first half. US and Germany both looked strong at times. Germany for sure the better side but aside from the Ozil shot haven't really generated a quality chance. And honestly that's the only A chance on either side. Both have had some good buildup followed by a dumb turnover or great defending.

Gonzilla has been excellent today, Pigclimber is leading in the should be drafted by Portugal for crying the most during the match, US needs to tighten up on their right. They've let Podolski run free too often. The positive though they've basically shut Muller out.
