First place Showdown!

In my lame attempt to muster up some excitement, I'm looking at this series as a make-or-break.

Both teams are 28-25, the only winning records in the East.

Both fan bases hate Fredi.

Braves suck on road, Marlins invincible at home.

Marlins have lost two key starting pitchers, Braves .. well, you know.

Matchups:

Teheran vs. Koehler

Santana vs. Turner

Harang vs. Eovaldi

A sweep either way would be huge.

Don't really know what to expect from this series.

If we lose like 80% of the board is going to meltdown and it's going to look like the apocalypse. The optimists will point out it's the beginning of June and we're only at worst 3 games out and we haven't hit our stride yet. If we win the series or even sweep, the doom and gloomers will dominate the board and just say we didn't prove anything since we should be taking care of the Marlins anyways. If we blowout the Marlins every game most of the naysayers will just say we're not consistent enough to keep this up until October. Then some will say we will win the East, we're just going to get swept in the playoffs and that Frank Wren constructed a pathetic and terrible team.

It's usually like that every year around this time of year.

Great stat from ESPN the other night. The Braves have lead their respective division 11 times on Memorial Day dating back to their first season in Atlanta. All 11 times they went on to win whatever division they were in. :pound:

This should be like watching two retards trying to **** a door knob.

I expect Miami to win every game Stanton hits a HR and Atlanta to win every game any body manages to hit one out of the cavernous park for us. If neither happens it'll come down to small ball which favors them. We have a favorable pitching matchup tonight, they do Sunday, Sat is about even.

A side note, as we search futily for a 2b Ed Lucas is doing a fine job for them. Remember him? We cut him a few years ago and nobody even blinked.

Lucas doesn't even have 50 PA and can't play 2B very well.

So did a couple of other teams. I guess that makes them stupid too. Lucas is a decent bench guy, but he's not their regular 2B and he likely wouldn't be ours either.

What we need is a live chicken.

And, realistically, we should damn well own these punks.

I am not afraid to call it now: BRAVES UP BY THREE GAMES come late Sunday afternoon.

My broom is ready, and I am going to load up the beer fridge for the weekend. The wife and lil' Hula have been duly warned....

Didn't mean it that way. No body wanted him. Its just strange the way a guy who appeared to be done could work his way back. BTW, he was hurt all of April and has been their starter since then. Hitting .340.

He also has a 424 BABIP. Let's not get too excited now. He will go back to being a scrub in due time.
