First World Problems

So, my damn search page on chrome automatically goes to yahoo now. I don't know how to change that. And yes I've tried all the obvious stuff, so if you're willing to help don't give me crap advice. Anyways, how do I get rid of yahoo search? It is horrible. And no it didn't come from porn, I think it came from Advanced System Care, so don't even mention it Zito.

can't decide if we should stay an extra afternoon in Venice Italy while waiting for the ferry to Croatia

or if we should rent a car and drive

Hot dog buns come in 8 packs while the cheddar bratwursts I buy only come on 6 Packs.

Bubba Burger has 6 usually in one box but burger buns come in 8 packs.

Lemme help you out.

Don't buy Bubba burgers.

Why the **** would you spend more money to get ****ty frozen burgers?

I don't know who wants to kick your ass more, the jingoist part of me, or the hipster part of me. They're both impossibly pissed.

You have bad knees. Your kicks wouldn't have much pop to them. Maybe the sheer force of all that leg weight would sting but no momentum or speed.

As a former goalie, I have a very strong punt. Even with your short asian genes, should be close to a low punt height for me.

Extra afternoon plus the ferry. Venice is great, the jaunt across the Adriatic is very serene, and I took the ferry from Istria (Rovinj) to Venice this summer. Plus it's very Thomas Mann to take the ferry from Croatia to Venice (or vice versa, in your case).

It's the hipster part, I'd say—but a true hipster would appreciate the loaded kitsch value of cooking ****ty frozen burgers on a sad-sack George Forman grille.

was thinking this but

have a crazy idea of leaving early and going to the eagles nest in Germany and then driving to Bled Slovenia in that day instead before heading into Croatia

if not the Eagles nest, still go to Bled as the spot to stay but would open up options of small places along the way to stop etc

going to see what the lady thinks of the ideas.

you go to Slovenia at all?

Yeah, I definitely concur with the ferry recommendation. Although, a drive (depending on which route you take) could allow you to spend a few hours in Ljubljana, climb Castle Hill, enjoy a Slovene lunch.

Croatia is an amazing country; I lived in Split several months this time last year, and have spent shorter amounts of time in Zagreb and Dubrovnik.

Where will you be going in Hrvatska, goldfly?

I rented a car in Dubrovnik and drove to Prishtina (via the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro) ... it was only like 45 minutes to Kotor from Dubrovnik.

honestly not sure yet. we got our flight situated a couple days ago (Atlanta to Milan for $575 roundtrip taxes and everything per person) and taking the train to Venice when we land for a couple days and then it is off to Croatia one way or the other. we will be there Mid May

haven't yet figured out a plan past that

have a few thoughts though and thinking of making Split our base for 4 or 5 days of the week we are there if we go the car route

trip is 11 days overall

Nice, I saw that Milan fare on a few sites. I got in on the Moscow deal out of JFK for $385, leaving late March, but am really worried that I am not going to be able to get my Russian visa together in time.

If you want to go to Eagle's Nest, which is well worth it -- but a bit out of the way if you are having to backtrack to Croatia, consider a night in Salzburg and a local train out to the Kehlsteinhaus. It's astoundingly scenic.

Sounds like it's going to be a pretty epic trip.

Yes, and I really loved it—so if you have time to allot to Ljubljana, take the driving option and follow Hawk's advice once there.

There's also a really good vending-machine adjacent to main market-square that sells surprisingly fresh goat's-cheese and goat's-milk, which is a real boon if you find yourself—as I did—wandering the city all night, waiting for the morning train and playing flâneur, instead of actually paying to sleep somewhere for a few hours.

However, if you'll be rushed and only have time to visit the south-western, Croatia-bordering regions of Slovenia, I'll say it's really not too distinct from Istria, which would thus swing the argument back to "ferry".

nice, saw that deal as well. thought about it but the visa in the short amount of time made us look at different options. we got in on that emirates deal JFK to Milan for 800 for 2 people instead.

yeah, it is out of the way but from the Nest to Bled is only like 2.5 hours (not counting the border crossing time)
