Freddie to third base??

"I don't think trying Freddie Freeman at third base is a good idea."

"You're only saying that because you regret not kissing Maria that one autumn night senior year."

The creek glistened in the moonlight; a gentle, crisp rustle—the first harbinger of colder days—teased her hair. Her eyes gleamed with intent. But unlike Freddie Freeman, I lacked the resolve, the reckless abandon to act, to do what we both wanted—unvoiced, understood, undone.

As thethe said this is not the forum for politics so I'm not going to argue with you after this, but those numbers are complete bull****. From tradingeconomics:

"GDP Annual Growth Rate France averaged 3.19 percent from 1950 until 2017"

"GDP Annual Growth Rate in the United Kingdom averaged 2.45 percent from 1956 until 2017"

"GDP Annual Growth Rate in Australia averaged 3.47 percent from 1960 until 2017"

"GDP Annual Growth Rate in Canada averaged 3.18 percent from 1962 until 2017"

"GDP Annual Growth Rate in Italy averaged 2.44 percent from 1961 until 2017"

I'm not including Germany because I'm not sure how their data handles the East/West split and reunification, but good lord did you really think no one would check your numbers?

Don't be insufferable. He posted the Growth Rate and you posted the Annual Growth Rate.

There's a difference between the two measures.

This might be my favorite post in the history of BravesCountry/Braves.scout.com/BravesCenter/Fanhome/Baseball Boards.

That was a reply to Enscheff at Fangraphs. We do realize that is him that was negged about 200 hundred times in that thread, right?

lol time will show who is right, as usual

Will be amusing to look back on this month long stretch as the outlier in Adams' career when I'm once again arguing with pozzy-Barves about something silly they believe in.

The more I think about it the more I think this can work. I am more concerned with lingering wrist problems hindering him at the plate. Whenever I watch games now I try to consider if Freeman could have made any play a 3b makes. If he can just make the plays hit right at him or within diving distance to either of where he stands and field bunts I think he will be fine. I don't think he is going to be making any rangy plays but his arm is good enough to allow him to make any play he reaches. I think he will be better than some guys who have been tried there like Trumbo.

You add Freddie to this team at third and you are looking at finishing above 500 this year.

I must say I am shocked how positive baseball internet has been to this.

Granted some of it is borderline condescending in the arena of "what do they have to lose." But most people seem to think this is worth a try. People who use WAR and defensive metrics. I am shocked.

Which of it isn't condescending and based in "what do they have to lose?"

Yeah, nobody thinks it is a good idea. Literally everyone says the Braves suck anyways, have no real options at 3B, so might as well try it. That reaction should not be confused with anyone saying, "this is a great idea".

Obviously, the real solution is to acquire an actual MLB-quality player at 3B, but the Braves seem unable to do that since Chipper retired.

So this is what we get...and then we get to read all the articles about how it failed.

I was a bit surprised by Dave Cameron's answer in his chat today. Basically "might as well try, nothing to lose this year, and could potentially solve a long term organizational need"

Yes, there is potential, however small it might be.

Most likely we are looking at Freeman being just bad enough at 3B that his overall value is identical to what he provided at 1B. All that to add a 1-2 win guy at 1B.

Why not just add an actual MLB caliber guy at 3B instead of insisting on "seeing what they have" in Adonis Garcia?

I agree with you. But if Freeman can provide the same value at third as he does at first, isn't the acquisition cost of a new first basemen much less than a third basemen?

I thought it was kind of telling that the broadcast crew last night was abnormally uneffusive when discussing Freeman moving to 3B. Simpson even quipped, "You won't be seeing that from Freddie" when Spangenberg made a nice charge and throw on a slow-roller a few minutes later. He did note that he asked Ron Washington how Freddie was progressing and Washington basically just said "good" (which, again, seemed nefariously unenthusiastic).

I agree with the general sentiment expressed by Cameron and others; this team has nothing to lose and, if by a stroke of luck, Freeman is palatable out there ... the team becomes that much better. I'm looking forward to seeing how he fares.

IF it works I'd love to see Kemp go into the offseason working on 1B and get someone else for LF.

I think it's possible Adams is a better player than he showed in STL but I doubt he is close to the guy he has been for us.

Getting a legit 3B makes sense.....but who? The Braves have struggled at 3B for a while and LF since Gant?
