Fredi doubling down; GDT 6/27/'14: Braves @ Phils, Teheranasaurus!

That's one way to stave off elimination.

If we somehow finish alone in first place, after staving off elimination the entire season and MLB offers us the division crown, does it count if our team is still just as inconsistent? Or should we offer the playoff spot to the Nationals since they're better than us?

If ESPN analysts recognize that Washington is the better team, a gentleman has to decline and offer it to the better team. Otherwise, there's going to be an asterisk in the record book, just like last year.

Julio Teheran is tied with Felix Hernandez & Masahiro Tanaka for most quality starts in the Majors. Quality starts in 15 of 17. #Braves

I'm telling you right now, the only reason they have any consistency is because of Rendon. That man is carrying that team offensively. Other than him, they honestly fckn suck and we are much better. I can't wait to get those bitches in Atl to finish them off.

They are more consistent than we are. We cant seem to get on one of those crazy runs, it's win a few, lose a few, not a 8-2 type run or run out 10-12 straight.

BUT, LOL at this, Ray Knight said every player on their lineup when healthy is top 2-3 at their positions in all of baseball, he was serious

I saw that too. Pretty LAWL worthy

If by "every player" he meant "quite literally none of them," he was dead on.

For all his faults I'd take Espinoza to play 2nd. Guessing most here would rather see Spann in CF.

I agree with the front office decision to keep Freeman and let LaRoche go but in fairness -- LaRoche is having a very nice year. In some respects more consistent than Freeman.

I thnk overall being tied is pretty spot on

Rendon's got a case. Desmond is down this year. Otherwise, meh.

He is, but SS is bad league-wide.

Minus Tulo, Hanley, and i guess Simmons because of his defense, there arent much else better, by default though.

Ray is a head case. Sad part is back in the 90s he was one of the few voices on ESPN that had anything good to say about our Braves. I realize those guys have their salary paid by the ball club but their bosses have lost their minds with the way they are forced to not acknowledge baseball outside DC.

Julio on pace to pitch 244 innings this year. 240 innings + sub 3 ERA might be the best definition of an ace I can think of.

I have to say Fredi. I've been one your biggest defenders here but even I can't excuse BJ and Simba hitting 1 and 2.
