Fredi fired

I really hope they do an extensive look and find a coaching staff that is really into the analytic part of the game. I'm not sure Bud Black is that. On the other hand, I don't want them to shoehorn some guy in such as Perez or TP after the year. We need to start a new "Braves' Way".

Poor Fredi, never had a chance this year.. but he needed to go..

1st act as manager should be to bench Aybar. Let him know he will not be released and that he will ride the bench for a week and then he will get another start.. if he shows more effort, then he will continue to start.. if not, back to the bench and good luck getting another contract.

Mark DeRosa, Sean Casey, and Eric Byrnes were just talking about this on MLB network. DeRosa and Byrnes had an interesting exchange.

DeRosa: (paraphrasing): The Braves need a new "way." Forget the old "Braves way," they need a new "way."
Byrnes: "How about you?"
DeRosa: "Lets do it."

I wonder if the front office would take the risk of hiring a young possible up and coming manager like DeRosa/David Ross, or if they're going to go with a more experienced retread like Bud Black.

Agreed. Probably wouldn't be a terrible idea to let go of the entire coaching staff. New manager needs to name his own staff. Too bad we missed out on Maddux as pitching coach

Fredi's time was up. He was very much a manager in the mold of Bobby Cox. He can steer a veteran team with talent through the regular season and keep things even-keel, but he was not a good in-game manager and this was exposed on teams with less talent, young talent, and in the playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get another shot as a manager somewhere with an established team.

I am kind of leaning to a young, up and comer... I am tired of the Bobby way...

I'm glad Fredi's gone; not because I hated Fredi as much as others here, but it just ends the suspense. But why would we think of hiring guys like DeRosa or Ross? Crazy talk.

....and, with that statement, DeRo has precluded himself from ever working in the Braves system, as long as Schuerholz and progeny are in power.

This is correct.

It has to. The new manager, especially if brought in from the outside, needs to be given complete control on his coaching staff

Snitker has been a loyal soldier for 40 years, so it's fitting that they would put someone like him in place to spell the end of the "old" Braves tradition.

In the big picture, this might be Coppolella officially taking the reins.

A mercy killing, both for us and Fredi.

Perhaps. Let's not kid ourselves that this team will be better now that they've fired Fredi.

It impacts nothing, other than somebody lost their job. They're still utterly void of power with a poor roster other than some very promising pitching, a good backup catcher, two good outfielders and a first baseman. The rest Snitker could have just as easily managed in Gwinnett. And has.

The other thing is, he's worked on player development on the farm for the vast majority of that time. He's helped a lot of guys through the growing pains of the developmental years. So probably a pretty good choice, assuming they intend to break a lot of guys in the rest of the year.
