Fredi Gonzalez Rant Thread.

I don't blame him for the game 4 loss. O'Flaherty, Venters and Walden were all hurt. Had to use Avilan to get through the heart of the order in the 7th. After that you just had to hope Carpenter could get through Puig and then essentially it should have been clear sailing from there.

If Walden was hurt, why did Fredi try to pitch him two innings the night before? You know, the thing a completely healthy Kimbrel evidently can't do anymore.

Has Fredi been fired yet? The more I think about Fredi not using Kimbrel the more it ticks me off.

Same here. This is going to take along time to shake-off. Kimbrel getting through 2 innings wouldn't have been a guarantee, but it would've given us our best chance to hold the lead, and force a game 5 back in Atlanta...where we have the best home record in baseball and would've cleared the 2nd start from the best pitcher in baseball. I really would've liked our chances in game 5 had we won last night, and Fredi leaving the best reliever in baseball rotting in the bullpen ruined any chance of that happened.

Nobody said varvaro was a great pitcher but his competition for a spot was probably with Ayala who had a good series so I'm not going to complain about that

Players like Carpenter and Teheren just weren't ready for the moment. Young players who haven't had enough of pressure experiences in the bigs to know how to channel that energy. I would have used Kimbrel in the 8th and 9th for the same reason that Fredi went with Garcia. The moment would not be too big for either in an elimination game. And it wasn't hindsight for me as I was asking matchup pitching in 7th and Kimbrel for the final 2 innings.

I guess Alex Cobb, Gerrit Cole and Sonny Gray didn't get that memo.

Coaches are very conservative and I think their bosses expect them to be that way

"...Leyland doesn't believe in doing things differently in October.

"This is a time of year where it's really interesting, because everybody comes up with all these different scenarios. 'Maybe you could try this? Did you think of this and that?'" he said.

"It's interesting, but we are what we are............ There's nothing to try to pull out of the hat, nothing different, at this time of year. There are not a lot of secrets in this."

Those comments came in the wake of Monday night's National League DS game in which Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez didn't use closer Craig Kimbrel to try for a two-inning save against the Dodgers. Instead, setup man David Carpenter allowed a two-run homer to Juan Uribe and Atlanta was eliminated.

"I've got my own problems, [but] I thought Fredi Gonzalez did it exactly right," Leyland said."Some people can disagree with that. ... That's fine. That's what this postseason is all about, different ideas and different thoughts."

On Buster’s Podcast today, he said, “the industry is swirling with a lot of rumors that (Braves) people are going to be answering for this playoff loss. Fair or not, that is something to watch for in the days ahead.” Have you heard anything similar?

David Schoenfield (4:17 PM)

If Buster said it, he’s hearing it from somebody. How do you think John Schuerholz felt watching Craig Kimbrel standing there in the bullpen with his hands on his hips? It’s like with Dusty: At some point, you’re going to make a change if you can’t win in the playoffs.

You're damn right people will be answering for this playoff loss.

Scheurholz had no problem with Bobby always losing in the postseason. He can't give Fredi the benefit of the doubt after one shot? I find that hard to believe.

Bobby won it all. What has Fredi given us? A historic collapse and a ****ty playoff performance.

I bet they just fire terry Pendleton again they made him the scapegoat once why not again

I doubt wren or fredi are fired

2011 was definitely a shot. I guess last year is arguable with the change in format.

Bobby gave us ****ty playoff performances his last 10 years here. They just called it a "crapshoot." That mantra isn't appropriate all of a sudden?
