Fredi in trouble?

Getting back to the thread, there is no point in firing Freddie unless he is doing things that are detrimental to the growth of the team and players for the future. Otherwise firing Freddie just introduces another expense (the new manager) with no additive return to the process.

ideally the additive proess, is that the new manager (ideally someone young) grows with the new kids coming up. Whats the point of waiting till 2017 to fire Freddi?

And what has Freddi done to deserve so many seccond chances?

2011 the september collapse

2012 we collapsed into that wild card game where his managerial blunders cost us vs the cardinals

2013 he blundered us vs the dodgers where he left kimbrel in the pen

2014 a losing season

2015 a nother losing season

2016 pretty much a disastrous start

If Bobby didnt love him so much he would have been fired years ago. This isnt about just the 10 game start. Look at his full record. Hes awful.

as I see it, Fredi is definitely in the cross hairs. The team was supposed to be a bit better than a year ago, so far that is not the case. There has been questionable use of the pen, pullling starters before they needed to be and lets face it, terrible use of the lineup. AJ is getting way to much playing time at the catcher position, I thought the reason for getting Flowers was his ability to handle pitchers and frame pitches, then why is he not catching at least 5 times a week?
Fredi is too wrapped up in so called matchups of LH vs RH. TIme to put a consistent line up on the field, if someone sucks put him on the bench. That includes Freddie Freeman.
The most disappointing thing this season to me is that the team got older at a time when we should be indoctrinating the youth so that they get the experience.
We have a bunch of old relievers none of which seem to be doing much, and there is no reason other than hope they straighten out before the trade deadline to get some kind of return.
Just way to many 30 somethings on the active roster for a team in rebuild mode.

I especially don't get sitting Mallex against LHP. I really don't get sitting Mallex at all. The kid is 22 years old, he needs to be seeing pitches against LHP so that he can get better at hitting them, not reinforcing the idea that he's a lefty so he won't be able to hit lefties.

And if he's not going to be playing every day and getting better, he needs to be sent back down to Gwinnett.

But I disagree with the point about too many 30-year-olds. The organization is in rebuild mode, not the team. I actually prefer older guys on the MLB roster because it's easier to eventually drop them for the young guys. You don't call up young guys before they're ready.

I'm certainly not defending Freddie. I just don't see the point in hiring a new manager (and paying the old manager) when the vast, VAST majority of the young guys will be in A, AA, AAA ball this year and really don't need to be exposed to the majors unless they are 100% without a doubt a finished product.

Now, if you want to hire the manager in waiting and put him in AA or AAA so he can start molding the players of his team of the future, then maybe that makes some sense.

I think most have settled in on firing Freddie as a revenge factor for the crappy baseball we are having to see. But, Freddie sucked last year, and the year before, and the...It should come as no surprise. I came in prepared to see crappy baseball because I don't believe in the Major League system of creating a team. Hey, what would this team do without Jo Boo as the manager?

Any chance the multiple whining about Fredi threads can be combined?

I understand everyone's frustration and certainly wouldn't think that anyone should be kept from voicing it, but having multiple threads addressing the same broken record is somewhat beyond ridiculous.

I will admit that one thing those who choose to bitch when they KNOW nothing will change in 2016 are accomplishing is that they've completely made this the most dreaded place to visit every day. Honestly folks, even the sunniest of us share your frustrations. The thing is...

If you really hate watching and following things as bad as you say you do, aren't you completely wasting your time? If I was as miserable and had as dark an outlook as many here do, I'd actually have followed through with the empty threats they've made and found something else to do by now that didn't appear to be ruining my life.

Fredi needs to get fired and felt that way before horrible start. I truly believe that the FO's plan all along was have Fredi go through a bit of the tough times and bring in a new manager for 2017. At least that's my hope.

I think the ideal scenario is fire Fredi early, promote Eddie Perez as interim manager and give him a trial run. Then make a decision this offseason

I think Eddie or Terry would be Fredi 2.0

They all learned from Bobby... maybe Eddie makes better bullpen decisions since he has worked with pitchers and in the pen.

Rosenthal said on FS1 pregame that Fredi could possibly be the first manager fired, cited frustration with his decision making. He mentioned Pendelton, Perez and Porter as in-house replacement options.

He said the one thing that could help Fredi stay is his close relationship with Cox, who still has a lot of say in the front office.

we still have the old brass just hanging around with their no show union jobs pretty much

and now talk of TP being a manager here again?

****

they are really making it tough to stick around with them if they go this route

If Gonzalez is gone at some point during the season, you'll see Porter, Pendleton, or Perez as the interim. Unless the interim turns things around, I imagine there will be a managerial search after the season.

I would bet against him being fired first. Vegas doesn't know the Cox effect like we do.

Exactly! This team will never be a true contender as long as Fredi is around. This is the perfect opportunity to dump him and start fresh in the new stadium

BREAKING NEWS: Fredi Gonzalez is not in trouble of losing his job, yet, but sources indicate if no improvement in decision making is made by 2022 he could be replaced. Possible candidates at the front of the replacement search begin and end with John Schueholz Jr, but sources indicate that he might be out of the Braves price range. Other candidates include former Braves pitchers John Burkett and John Thomson, both of whom pitched their best in a Braves uniform under the guidance of then manager Bobby Cox.

I don't see any way Pendleton would be the interim. I think it would probably be Porter with Perez having a shot as well.
