I said this in another thread. AA has a policy that prohibits opt out clauses and no trade clauses. So does he break that trend on Turner or Correa? Doubtful imo

I dont think either Correa or Turner will get an opt out clause. They'll want the biggest contract.

These guys want the money but they wanna win also. I think the Cubs will go hard after some of these guys but will strike out bc they wanna win too. Teams like the Mariners and Giants are gonna spend so a lot of these guys will go off the board early.

This would be such a Cubs move.

Ideal, not-going-to-happen scenario:

-- Unload Ozuna and Rosario for overpriced reliever(s), or overpriced starter(s) who can become more effective as reliever(s).
-- Re-sign Swanson to a reasonable deal (five years, higher AAV; or seven years, lower AAV)
-- Sign Turner to a similar, if larger deal, to play LF, plus sub at 2B/SS/CF when necessary—including potentially sliding over to CF against tough LHP.
-- Sign deGrom to a two-year, high AAV deal.

He is pro-FF, and I'm sure he likes to win

I think that's an angle to consider. LA might not be Swanson's preferred destination, but big bucks, the chance to win, and a good buddy in the clubhouse wouldn't make the situation untenable. Tax rates (and the value of the Canadian dollar for guys considering the Blue Jays) can play into the decision, but for the top-tier guys, they make so much money I think the chance to play for a winner and be in a situation that is comfortable for your family are likely higher priorities.

Interesting to see the differences between Fangraphs and Law. Law had Swanson at #4 overall and ahead of Bogaerts. Flipped here. I still don't see a clear-cut solution to our LF problems on the list. Lots of moving parts even with Diaz removing himself from the board. I just hope the Braves don't confuse Zach Elfin with Robbie Erlin.

The thing that struck me is how many second- and third-tier starting pitchers are on the list and most may have to settle for shorter-term deals.
