Freeman to the DL a strong possibility per Bowman.

Regardless of that, i dont think the 2013/2014 teams were set up well to beat elite pitching or at least make them work, too many K's/easy outs.

In 2003 would you have said our offense was good enough to compete only to get shut down by Prior and Wood? You can't build a lineup to beat elite pitching in the playoffs. Just like you can't make an elite rotation to shut down every team in the playoffs. Lot's of luck and variables involved with it being such short series'.

I've never like Lynn for whatever reason and his numbers are surely getting better so I am likely way off base on him. Im not sure what point I'm trying to make, just saying I thought they should start Miller over Lynn in 13 and feel like Miller is a better pitcher than him.

FWIW, I still can't get the gopher ball he served up Jayson Werth in game 4 of the 2013 playoffs out of my head. I just can't understand how he gets it done.

That's a fair point. He certainly reminds me of a the type of pitcher we have had in Atlanta the past decade. Relatively obscure guy that comes out of no where to pitch well. He's basically Beachy without the arm surgeries.

We beat pitching 96 times that year. The only part of baseball that changes in the playoffs is no more #5 starters and starters get pulled sooner for the bullpen. An elite pitchers fastball doesn't gain 5 mph and their curveballs don't have sharper break.

no 5s or 4s. With the way the tv schedules work you usually only face the top 3 guys. And if you have a dominant 1 or 2 it gives you a HUGE advantage. If you have an elite top 2 you can just punt the 3rd sometimes. Dodgers will get it soon.

In foresight, I don't think the current team has a shot at competing in the playoffs against really good pitching.

We've shown the ability to scratch out runs against good pitching. I'm more worried about our pitching against good hitting.
