FRI MINORS Championships: ROME WINS; Gwinnett eliminated

No kidding, that's amazing. Gonna be super fun watching them at high A and AA next year.

I know we have Sims and Newcomb, but the exciting stuff is in Rome and lower. Just think of how good Rome Staff will be even with these guys graduating..

On another note, do you think Fried will crack the pre-season lists.... Last 4 starts.. 44 Ks in in 18.1 innings..

Those innings can't be right.

I tend to doubt he'll crack lists yet, partially b/c of injury concern and partially b/c of age and level. But I think he's firmly back on the radar and could get back on with a good start to next year.

I left off 7 innings .. 25.1 innings with 44 Ks.. I think he is board line

Obviously a lot will depend on spring training, but I could see Fried in AA, if not to start the year shortly thereafter. They were aggressive with Weigel, so I don't think there will be that much of a reluctance to do the same thing with Fried provided they see him as fully recovered.

The Florida State League has tended to favor pitchers over the years, so we could see some more eye-popping stat lines if these guys' development arc continues upward.
