Why?

Why does he need to get called up soon? Its still only June, he's not dominating AAA and its not like the MLB team has a chance to go to the playoffs.

Why not let him start for another month in the minors, see if he can continue working on his control and also HOPE that somehow Colon/Dickey string some starts together and merit some type of return in a trade. Best case that happens, you trade one of the vets then Newcomb comes up.

I don't see the huge rush.
 
i think it's time newcomb starts learning at the big league level. another month won't matter if that's preferred, although i'd like newcomb getting called up with confidence. i'd hate to wait only to see him start slumping

i have little faith in the braves ever getting any kind of return for the 44+ year old with a lot of money still owed to him this year who is horrible. but maybe he puts two good starts together and they can get a bag of balls or something in return at some point.

I agree that Colon should get a little more time but calling Newcomb up wouldn't be a bad move

He arguably is dominating AAA but his lack of control may get him killed in majors.
 
Newcomb's age isn't as big an issue as others. He's a college arm but a cold weather pitcher without as many innings under his belt as others his age.
