Fun little research on Rap

Kind of disappointed... our family grew up loving Bone Thugs in the 90's.

Their rapping was also poetic sounding, despite the fact mostly every song was about getting high, weed, and money. They also plugged the term "East 1999" in some fashion in every song they could.

DMX i'm also kind of surprised too, but most of his songs he just sounds angry.

Drake is another that surprises me, he has good flow but I'm surprised his vocab isn't higher. Same goes for 2Pac, although most of his songs were about morality, poverty, etc.

Most of it isn't shocking. Drake uses the same words way too often. Of course people who just curse excessively (eminem, I'm looking at you) ruin their otherwise high vocabulary. I wasn't shocked that Aesop Rock was tops, nor the Wu Tang Clan.

Also I'm guessing that artists that are more reliant on hooks and refrains (like Eminem, Drake, DMX, etc) get hurt because they're repeating phrases, but I'm not sure if they accounted for that.

Outkast I expected to be near the best and I was right.

Andre is more lyrically talented than Big Boi (even though Big Boi is right down the street from my house), but both of their styles mesh well together.

Ditto Shakespeare.
