Just wanted to bump this up. As Spurs are locked out of UCL. They got bounced from the first knockout round in EUropa. Lost the League Cup Final and were bounced in the first round of FA. With a max of 64 points, Their point totals have fallen every year. Imagine how ****ty they would have been without Harry Kane? They'd probably be hanging down around Stoke.

Spurs sold Bale and didn't capitalize on their return. After selling Bale, Dempsey, Parker, Huddlestone, and Caulker, they brought in with Bale's money Paulinho, Soldado, Lamela, and Eriksen. Eriksen the cheapest of that bunch is the only one of those who's really worked out. Lamela's been improving. Paulinho has sucked. Soldado has sucked. That's been their biggest issue. They squandered their big selling offseason.

Spurs are set up so much bette rfor the future now. They also got a world class goalie in Lloris. The buggest issues with Solado and Paulinho is Spurs had great players in the pipeline that overtook them in Mason and Kane.

The Premier Leagues elite have just gotten so much better. City, Arse, Chelsea, ManU. Spurs going to need a good offseason to approach any of those teams.

But you are right. If Spurs didnt have their good players like Kane, they would be a worse team. In depth analysis from a pro.

They had Lloris when they had Dempsey. That offseason they got Sigurdsson, Dempsey, Dembele, Lloris, and Vertongen. After Vertonghen leaves this transfer window, and maybe Lloris as well if Real pry away De Gea, they'll basically only have Dembele from that transfer window.

Spurs haven't had a great transfer in a long time. Soldado has sucked since joining Spurs. He isn't young, he was supposed to come in and score goals, he didn't. Kane got a chance to play cause of how ****ty guys like Soldado and Adebayor are.

Paulinho was an overpay and it still is an overpay.

Why? Especially with Arsenal in the pole position to win the FA again. Only Chelsea fires a manager who's won for them.

Because a lot of Arsenal fans are just bandwagoners like any other topside team. The real Arsenal fans appreciate Wenger and want him to leave on his own terms. The "Wenger Out" crowd are the ones who don't understand how Arsene weathered the ship through financial stadium debt having to sell off Henry, Fabregas, Van Persie all in their primes. Arsenal are now in a position where they can be financially competitive with any team for a long time, thanks to Wenger. We were still making top 4 and being competitive even after selling off all that talent and Wenger being cheap.

I bet Liverpool fans wish they had someone like Wenger. They're going to have to build a new stadium at some point, and Rodgers has not really built them to be competing for titles year in year out. Arsenal on the other hand will have tons of money to spend this offseason, whether or not Wenger decides to spend it.

IMHO, Wenger is kind of like what Bobby Cox was to the Braves. Built the team with scouting and youth. Managed the team to many successful years (Top 4 EPL similar to Division Titles in baseball). Team hits financial difficulty, he still puts competitive teams out there to give us a chance. Players love him because of how loyal he is to them and doesn't throw them under the bus. Lots of fans wanted both fired after not winning championships. In Bobby's case, we know that maybe Wren somewhat forced him out and Bobby couldn't reap the benefits of the new core of players (Heyward-Freeman-Kimbrel-Teheran etc.). In Wenger's case, ownership were cheap ****s anyways, so they loved that Wenger was still making Top 4 despite selling off his best talent. Now Wenger is finally reaping the benefits of the new core he's built plus the financial flexibility to go out and get players like Ozil and Sanchez.

Future is bright for Arsenal. A Top 2 finish and an FA Cup is going to be building a lot of momentum for next year. No World Cup either, so full rest this offseason.

Not really comparable. Wenger is more comparable to say Belichick or Reid or another coach/gm in the NFL.

Wenger is a great manager. Next year should be fun, especially if City gets Pep. Van Gaal is finally building up United, Mourinho has a few more years of quality from Chelsea.

BTW dumbest **** I've heard. A coworker of mine comes up to me and says you hear Chelsea will sell Oscar and Ramires for Bale. my first reaction is you're about 50 million short. But then after that I asked him why would Real do that? Why would they want Ramires and Oscar his phrase is "they're good players" I said if they're so good why would chelsea sell one of them off? If he told me Hazard for Bale I'd believe that. But I digress. I than asked him if he knew who the central mids for real were. Neither of them can play LM or RM like Bale, so they'd have to play in the middle. So I asked him to name the central players for Real. When I rattled of Ramos, Khedira, James, Kroos, Isco, Modric, and they have a young promising Brazilian in Lucas Silva. They have too many central mids, why would they take on 2? Maybe I'd believe it if you said WIllian and cash, I don't think Real does that because they seem to prefer the wide mids who have their shooting foot inside.

Seriously, Chelsea fans are all dumb twats.

There's no such thing as a real Chelsea fan, same for City. They just suddenly came to existence not even a decade ago.

This is the same guy who tried to convince me people would rather see Chelsea/United than Liverpool/United. Chelsea has no major rivalry with any top club. Tottenham and Arsenal have each other. United has City and Liverpool. Liverpool also has Everton. Their local rivals are Fulham and QPR, neither are gonna be in the premier league next year. Maybe QPR can stay up but I doubt it.

Media has tried to make Arsenal-Chelsea a thing since they're both London. Also because of the Wenger-Mourinho dynamic (won't call it rivalry because Wenger has never beaten Mourinho lol).

But it's north vs West London. Tottenham/Arsenal has bad blood because of Arsenal's relocation. It's similar to why MIchigan/OSU have a nasty rivalry. It's not just their games played there's other historical factors.

I don't get how red bulls got Kljestan without using a DP

I think they paid down his salary using allocation money. Don't know if he'll be a non-DP for the duration of his stay. Never really know what's going on with MLS because they make up rules as they go along.

Last night was glorious. Glad Klinsmann was in the house to watch Kljestan have one of his best games of the season while Mix had to be mercifully subbed off by Kreis. He's been brutal lately.

Kljestan is an extremely good player. He's really versatile and doesn't screw up. Klinsmann tried to give him a WC spot but he wound up falling behind Evans and others. Mix was not NYCFC's issue yesterday. Villa hasn't been worth a damn for them basically all season. That's their DP that's their problem.

I still wish Mix went to the Bundesliga, Serie A, or La Liga. Playing against top competition would be better for him than playing in MLS. I don't mind Bradley, Dempsey, Jozy, etc. playing in the US because they're basically done growing as players. mix has a long way to go.

How crazy would it be if Swansea got the second Europe spot? Only 2 points back on Tottenham, unfortunately they get City who will want at least a point to ensure a guaranteed spot in UCL. Would be awesome if they snuck in.

In that last one, I imagine Andy Richter as being Germany. **** you Germany!

Given that City won today, the top 4 is effectively set. United could shock Arsenal possibly with a win and then arsenal choking against either Sunderland or West Brom but severely unlikely.

Any of the 3 teams in the hunt in Europa could make it and any of the 3 could drop out.

Poor Daley Blind. Hit his own player on what should have been a beautiful goal from a well orchestrated Free Kick. Fun first half.

Silly season is already warming up. Rumor that PSG will make an 88M dollar offer for Di Maria. Basically hoping united sells a little low on him. I think it would be wise for UNited to sell if possible. Maybe work out a swap, Di Maria for Cavani and cash. Then when they sell De Gea and Cash for Bale, they can still go out and get Lloris. If all those things happened, United would be set up pretty nicely for next year.
