Fun look at the next generation (mostly) all on the field together today for the first time. A draw against a pretty good Euro team, on their soil...I'll take it.
Future's bright.
My gripe is Berhalter's player selection. Why use Lletget as a false 9? Should have played Soto up top. I know it sucked that Bremen wouldn't release Sargent but put Soto up top and put Gio as a CAM where he's been quite good for Dortmund. Start Weah or Llanez at RW.
I know that 2 of the US's best players weren't available who were originally picked and if we had Pulisic and Sargent that attack looks different and we probably win.
Can't be mad at the result though, we held possession more than Wales and seemed like the team on the front foot. Wales seemed like a team of vets trying to make the kids make a mistake and they didn't. The match vs. Panama should be interesting.
I'm guessing (have no evidence) that Brooks and Dest will be released back to their teams today. Cannon will be starting at RB and Ream will start at LCB. I know Pulisic is released as of tonight. I'm guessing Adams and McKennie are 50/50.
If I had to guess a lineup vs. Panama
LW - Konrad
ST - Soto
RW - Gio
CAM - Lletget
CM - Musah
CM - Johnny (again I think Weston and Adams could both be gone)
LB - Robinson
CB - Ream
CB - Richards
RB - Cannon
Players coming off the bench will be Llanez, Weah, Otasowie, Gioacchini, and Ledezma.
I would start Horvath in goal as well, but I know GGG wants Steffan as he's his clear number 1.
