Game 5 lineup shuffle?

A couple tweaks make some sense. One is moving Swanson up in the lineup. He's hit the ball hard in this series and is generally having good ABs. Swanson in the 6 spot is what I would do.

I'm on the fence as far as Duvall for Joyce goes. I lean toward sticking with the platoon advantage.

Swanson should have been higher from Game 1, and it has nothing to do with the last 15 PAs.

Joyce was the correct answer 15 PAs ago, and he’s still the correct answer now.

Competent teams don’t panic based on sample sizes of 4 games.

Looks like many of you still haven’t learned how idiotic it is to “play the hot hand”.

If Freeman is healthy he’s still the best hitter in the team. If his elbow is so bad that it’s the cause of his struggles, he doesn’t need to be in the lineup at all.

Only the Braves know if that’s the case.

This. If he's healthy, you just hope he figures it out and breaks out in a big way. If yesterday was the result of injury, he needs to sit.

And you're right that only the Braves know the real deal. I just hope the Braves are smart enough not to try to let Freeman gut it out.

We've got to find a way to get Tiger Woods in there. We need his magic to combat the Cardinals' Devil Magic.

From a few years ago in an interview with the Atlanta Jewish Times:

"AJT: So if your turn in the rotation came on Yom Kippur, what would you do?
Fried: I haven’t really given it that much thought yet, mainly because I haven’t ever played baseball that deep into the year, but it would definitely be a very tough decision. I’d have to consult my family and everyone else to see what the best decision would be."

From the article:

AJT: What was your Jewish background like growing up?
Fried: I grew up fairly observant. We went to synagogue on High Holidays, and I had my bar mitzvah. So all that good stuff.

Editorial note: It is the High Holy Days not the High Holidays. This is a frequent mistake. Not sure if Maximus made it or the writer/editor of the article made it.

From my point of view, we have to stick to the script. Our hitters are due. We had some good at bats vs Flaherty and had some chances the first time. Making changes now seems like an over reaction.

I think you at least need to put Swanson in the 6 spot to break up the lefties. Can’t allow Shildt to bring in Webb or Miller to face so many lefties in a row.

There is no “seems like” about it.

The correct answer 4 games ago is still the correct answer.

Correct. And it was also the correct answer 4 games ago.

Generally you look at performance over a longer period. But Swanson really scuffled coming off the IL. He was obviously rusty. But he's shown in the past four games that the rust is finally gone.

Lol ok.

Swanson should have been batting 6/7 from Game 1, and the 3 LHH in a row against a team with Miller in the BP was identified as an issue before the series started.

The last 4 games proved nothing that wasn’t already known.

Quite a few low IQ people wanted Duvall in the lineup because he had 2 big hits early in the series. Duvall was given 3 PAs yesterday and was predictably shut down by RHP.

The reactionary “hot hand” people were wrong...as always.

The correct lineup vs Flaherty is the same one he faced in Game 2 with Swanson moved to the 6/7 hole where he should have been from the start.

I too wonder if Max will be available to pitch tomorrow. Being that it’s the holiest day of the year, he may be with family. But what could also be hurting him is from sundown tonight until sundown tomorrow he would be fasting so being that we have the 5pm game he wouldn’t be able to eat until the later innings.

Maximus will fast then feast
