Garcia being traded to Twins

Kudos to Garcia on another strong start. I think that at least some teams view him as a 3rd or 4th starter in a playoff rotation. Having playoff experience and being left-handed both help his cause. Very little chance the Braves will want him to pitch at Chase field next week.

Sources: Garcia trade stalled due to #Braves’ medical concern on #Twins’ prospect. Still could revive, but both teams working alternatives.

Unless we get a great offer, I would keep Garcia and play out the season with the group we have. It is a fun group that has a little bit of magic pixie dust sprinkled on it.

Fredi Gonzalez' teams never had the pixie dust.

Would you be interested in signing Garcia to a 3 year deal in the offseason?

Or maybe just offering arby to keep him around for one more year regardless of the high cost?

I'd do 3 years, but would prefer 2 with an option. It seems to me a good alternative to trading for guys like Verlander or Ian Kennedy.

I'd go after Cobb or Lynn this winter in FA.

I really like garcia. Injury risk is obvious but when he is out there he is a quality MOR pitcher and we need guys that can eat innings.

That and he may get a QO and idk if Coppy will give up our pick in the 11-18 range for it.

I don't see us giving up any picks unless we are a legit 95 win team and a top tier free agent is in play. The farm system is the key to all of this and taking away a bif bullet from keeping it that way won't be wasted on anything but a tier 1 FA.

Gonsalves?

He is a stud, and I would take him. I would just like more outfield depth for 2-3 years from now in Kirilloff.

Twitter is saying it could've been Nick Burdi. I followed him at Louisville. He is a future closer, but I feel the Braves already have a couple of future closers in their minors whereas the outfield depth is not as great.

I could see us give up a pick in the 2018-19 FA class.

Not now though.

I don't want the Twins trash. Garcia is a solid starter, the best rental on the market AND and lefty who has not only pitched in a WS...but pitched well. If a team doesn't want to give up ONE decent prospect for that, then we should keep him. We don't need some kind of crappy fringe prospect. Our farm is full unless it's someone worthwhile. Keep Adams, Phillips, and Garcia if that's the case. Make it worth our while or don't call...we already have a good farm.
