Garcia being traded to Twins

So who on the twins list outside of their top 4 would you have traded gant, Ellis dykstra and 10 million for last winter? Not quite that simple bc of 40 man crunch and the desire to be good and eat innings.

But curious if anyone felt that way about a twins prospect

Garcia, like Colon and Dickey was acquired because of the new stadium.

Garver looks decent to me. Clearly older but if he takes Suzuki role next year that's a useful piece with maybe some upside

I'm happy trading Gant, Ellis, and Dykstra for half a season of Garcia and whatever they end up getting for him from the Twins. Without knowing the return, seems about right.

Twins beat writer says he was told it was for a "pretty decent" prospect

Yeah, but that would be the outlier. So paying some of his remaining salary is a good move. Paying all would have helped us, but that's something you have to convince the other team to do. It's not a given you can just force that on a team, so why be upset about it?

Had we paid none of the salary, nobody would have reported it and nobody would be upset about it.

I'm talking about the Braves paying all of the salary, assuming it indeed would get us a better return.

Reading between the lines on the news from the various beat writers last night . . . seems like the trade was agreed upon, Twins had some concerns about Garcia's medicals and asked the Braves for more money, and now the teams are back to a negotiating state.

Hope that Garcia isn't any more a tainted good than he already should have been. Apparently the Twins have a penchant for this kind of medical scrutinization. Hard to really care, one way or the other, in the absence of knowing who the returning prospect would be.
