Garcia being traded to Twins

I do not want Carmargo to be the man who is at 2B in the near future. Albies is special and should be A Brave. And I love Carmargo. I'm going to be sick if we trade for Gray. It'll mean pain to this prospect hound. Inevitable...but it's not time.

Man, I could definitely see the FO thinking Camargo makes Albies or Swanson expendable.

A trade centered around Swanson/Albies for Gray wouldn't shock me in the least.

All I could do is chuckle and shake my head. I wouldn't even have words to describe my frustration with this FO if that happened.

Touki, Riley, Jackson, Minter or Wilson arent untouchable by any means. You cant keep every prospect.

I'd keep Acuna, Albies, Maitan, Soroka, Wright, and Gohara if at all possible. Everyone else is fair game, even Allard.

I dont think it would cost Albies and Allard, other big name pitcher for Gray though.

I'm not as high on Gahara as some, but I agree with this 100% and could be convinced Gohara needs to be on the untouchable list.

Yea wouldn't make Touki, Wilson, Riley, Jackson or Minter untouchable or a deal breaker, but would prefer to hang on to them if at all possible. Allard to me is our second best pitching prospect after Gohara. No way I'd want him included for Gray IMO.

Touki, Wilson, Riley, Jackson, Minter are nowhere near untouchable.

Only ones untouchable to me are Gohara, Soroka, Wright, Albies, Maitan and Acuna. I guess i'd include Allard as well but you cant hang onto every single prospect.

Anyone else is fair game.

Please move the sonny gray discussion to the trade deadine thread. This thread should just be about the Garcia deal. I understand th money element as well as 4p man spots are intertwined but it's more organized if it's in one thread.

Should we keep talking about how much Garcia increased his trade value with that single start?

Im mostly posi-Brave but trading Albies for Gray would be really freaking dumb but the A's do have alot of 2B/infielders.

If we could get him for just pitching that didnt include Gohara, Soroka or Wright and lesser hitting prospects i'd be ok with it.

Trading for Albies would hurt since he's MLB-ready soon and Swanson has dissapointed.

Based on this trade, hard to disagree Bundi has little value and has the worst medicals of all time. Perhaps he's missing an elbow.

I think there are complications with Burdi's elbow. He sat out most of 2016 with a bone bruise near his elbow and now he's undergone TJS. He is rightfully ranked above Ynoa on what he's done, but the injury concerns are very real. Not saying Ynoa is a better prospect than Burdi, but Burdi's elbow problems put a big asterisk next to his name. The guy I wanted from the Twins was 1B Lewin Diaz who is playing at Cedar Rapids. Another guy I liked when the Twins drafted him in 2015 is Trey Cabbage. Fairly well-regarded hitter out of Nashville, TN, he really has scuffled since turning pro. He's showing some signs of coming around, but he's a long ways away and climbing a pretty steep hill given his early career struggles.

One thing I find a bit funny is the tossing in of Recker. Twins are satisfied with their catching (whether they should be or not is a different question). Castro is getting raves for his defense and Chris Gimenez has been a great clubhouse guy and has also soaked up a few meaningless innings on the mound. There was a lot of talk about Garver when the Garcia trade was first discussed, but I can't figure out why the Twins would want Recker if Garver is already on the 40-man. If the Twins needed an extra C, why not bring up Garver?

If that dumb ax trade went down, I'd enroll in the Enscheff school of FO suckology!

Longerhans just reported he has received reports stating Ynoa has been throwing harder than 94 recently.

Hopefully there's an uptick in stuff the braves have identified.

Had hoped to see us do better than this return, but the rental market seems very soft this Summer. I don't see a huge difference in value b/w Burdi and Ynoa, personally. I believe one or more of the Twins' beat writers mentioned last Thursday when the trade was built around Burdi that MIN would pay most but not all of Garcia's salary. In this trade, they are paying all of it. Not a huge difference in the overall returns, but I have a slight preference for this trade built around Ynoa due to the money.

If the Braves trade Albies for Gray, I'm officially a free agent. So silly that we are looking at a controllable starter when we've centered the rebuild around pitching.

Were gonna have so much pitching you're gonna be sick of it.

So with Bowman saying we traded Garcia for a marginal prospect to get rid of Garcia's salary, why did we ever trade for Garcia? We basically got best-case Garcia (from him not having a year ending injury) and we probably lost the prospect trade portion (Gant and Ellis/Dykstra/Recker for Ynoa).

Would anyone here have traded Gant straight up for Ynoa?

Looks like Ynoa has at least a shot to be a ML SP. Those guys don't.

Meh. Bundi was a potential 98-100 MPH closer.

Ynoa is a small low-90s guy that might stick at the back of a rotation, but is walking a ton of guys. He's like Touki with much less stuff.

I think I would have preferred the potential elite closer, even with the TJ on his resume.

Of course, you guys think Garcia's value increased after his last start, so you all will obviously be claiming to prefer Ynoa haha.

we should've expected a sleeper prospect.
I never wanted Burdi. Strictly a reliever who has bad arm issues.
Gohara's stock has gone way up since we got him. Maybe this guy will be a similar deal. No patience around here.

Legit question - is your slight relative apprehension on Gohara mostly because of his weight?

And his 2 arm issues by the age of 20.

He throws extremely hard, is in terrible shape, and already has had multiple issues with his left arm before being drinking age. You couldn't put together more red flags for injury if you tried.

He is easily the biggest injury risk in the system outside of Fried.
