Adonis Garcia is taking grounders at second base. With Olivera coming up, the #Braves want to add to Garcia's versatility

....

Can he play LF too?

Yes, Garcia's main positions this year have been 3B and LF, he's played 17 innings in LF since his call-up too. He's also played quite a bit in RF and some CF last year in AAA. Plus his former position is second base going back to Cuba and he played it as recently as 2013 in Winter Ball. So my guess is they're having him take ground balls at second to find out if can handle it enough now at the MLB level. If he can then he makes an ideal candidate to platoon with Jace Peterson going forward given the splits for both players. Garcia has killed lefties this year.

Somehow I missed him in LF. I call myself watching every night, but apparently not very well. Good to know regardless

It will be interesting to see how playing his original position again works out here. If it works out well then Garcia value goes up as then we can platoon him at second, third, and left field at the very least. It would make him more like Infante back when he was a Brave. Infante like Garcia also hit very well vs lefties too.

I like it. I like Garcia. He'd be exposed playing every day long-term, I think, and he doesn't walk a lick, but he does put the fat part of the bat on the ball more often than most of our lineup does.

Hopefully he'll be the second-best 30-year-old Cuban rookie with questionable conditioning on our roster.
