GDT 10/12/23: Braves @ Phillies - NLDS Game 4 Striders Revenge

Losing sucks, but the real frustration is the offense never bothering to show up.

That's the bottom line. The five-day layoff did not cause Kevin Pillar and Eddie Rosario to take two of the most atrociously miserable at bats ever with the season on the line. Kind of fitting that this team didn't find a real solution for LF among all its other wheelings and dealings and that's ultimately what ends the year in the final inning.

It’s baseball, you play the game on the field not on paper. Bats didn’t show up, pitching was actually decent other than Game 3.

Dude I get it. You gotta beat your opponent. But baseball is the only sport where the pirates can beat the Yankees in a best of 5 series pretty regularly. And MLB is creating more and more of those matchups. The regular season means nothing... and im.at the point where'd I'd rather be a WC than the bye team

Also it'd time for Snit to retire. Anyone can win with this roster over 162.

But we need a rob Thomson to beat opponents in a best of 5

When the braves clinch next year, they better not even get a PA off. This team just can't turn it back on. They haven't been good since they won in Philly to take division. Last year, they blasted the Mets, and then took a day off... they were crap after that. This team only knows no rest, full
Speed ahead

We’ll be spending the time between now and when spring training opens in February wondering what happened to the bats.

No...we will be hoping fckn AJSS can be our #2 but AA feels reliable pitching is a dime a dozen...this is a fckn wake up call for the front office....un**** this pitching

Screw that. Forfeit every game September til your in the wild card. Beat the **** out of the marlins

The three teams that won 100+ games went 1-9 in the postseason. Draw your own conclusions with that nugget.

Out of 8 divisional round teams the last 2 years...
AL higher seed took 3 of 4
NL higher seed is 0 and 4

It's the braves and dodgers being notorious chokers... that's the real issue

It's not their fault. But this is the only sport that the best teams can lose to inferior opponents.

I don't how to fix that because of the randomness of baseball compared to other sports. This phenomena didn't just start with the current wacky setup. And honestly, we might have won 14 more games than the Phillies, but the two rosters that came into this series weren't exactly miles apart.

Get rid of 5 game series for top seeds somehow

I say the Braves and Dodgers just merge. Snit/Roberts, Freddie/Olson, Ronnie/Betts should have a joint press conference tomorrow and then a hug session.

I don't know what to tell you man.

If you think the diamondbacks and Phillies are better teams than the Dodgers and Braves, thats on you

It's not gonna change. But I would hope my sport has the best teams playing in the WS rather than another NL punk playing a juggernaut yet again

Going back to last year, though the Astros swept the Mariners, they got pushed in each game, trailed in two I think and one went to 18 innings. The Yankees got pushed to five games by the Guardians. Again, I don’t know what the deal is, but the wild card round is proving to be no advantage.
