GDT 10/16 NLCS Game 5 - Minty Hippo FTW

I will say. If there is something annoying that happens it will involve Mookie Betts. Seager has some more damage but Betts gets under my skin with the sort of things he does.

They need to get it done tomorrow afternoon. Game 7s are wild and a team with the experience the Dodgers have is unsettling.

I don’t think the Braves win this series. But, let me just say, unequivocally, that if this series goes 7, the Braves aren’t winning. Anderson got lucky in his last start, and the Dodgers seeing him a second time bodes disaster.

And that isn’t me being funny, frustrated, or superstitious. That is what I honestly think.

I think Fried will pitch well as will Anderson. I worry about some of the Dodgers’ human rain delays running up their pitch counts and this series has been stressful for the bullpens.

You think it, so it must be true.

Smith shouldn’t see the mound tomorrow or a potential game 7. They have his number. MM and Martin should be well rested along with Fried.

They keep talking about the Dodgers advantage seeing Fried a second time. They ignore that we’re seeing their guys a second time too.

Acuna will bust out soon. Hopefully it’ll be tomorrow. I really don’t wanna go to a game 7 bc anything can happen and it would be embarrassing as hell since we were up 3-1.

He doesnt have good slider command and that’s his pitch.

It didn’t look like he was missing that badly, and they were constantly laying off that slider like they knew it was coming. I think the biggest thing though is that he can’t put away anyone with his fastball.

So we need a big game from Fried tomorrow. Ideally at least 7 innings. Tomorrow is game 6 in a row and a day game after a night game. I’d assume we’re set up something like this.

Pitching situation

Unavailable

Minter
Greene
Anderson
Wilson

Unreliable

Smith
Dayton
Webb
Tomlin
Wright

Limited usage

Matzek
Ynoa

Good to go

O’Day
Martin
Melancon

As far as our hitters go d’Arnaud really needs the day off behind the plate as well. I’m a bit surprised Flowers didn’t start tonight. This means tomorrow we’ll either need to weaken the lineup or weaken the defense by putting Ozuna in LF and TDA at DH.

It’s unlikely they will add Flowers to the lineup vs a RHP.

The chance to rest TDA is gone. He will be catching both games if needed.

Fried has to go at least 6. With no off days and the bullpen game this series could really wear the pen down.

The only reason I think it’s a possibility is because of the fact of it being a day game after a night game. Flowers also does tend to hit righties better than lefties.

I'm not so pessimist. Game 6 and 7 are, basically, a replay of games 1 and 2, that we won. We have no Duvall (who was struggling) and have Pache that was good so far and has better defensive skills. Our pitching has been better than theirs overall, and our offense has been good.
Add to this that they are the team supposed to win, and all the pressure is on them.
Ìf we lose I'll be disappointed, but not nearly as disappointed as I was from 1996 to 2019.
