GDT 10/26/21: Braves @ Astros - World Series Game 1

Meh - I wanted Strider.

Not sure why we got another left hander.

Just embrace the bullpen game with Smyly/Strider/Chavez

The problem is, it may force the bullpen to be overworked by late-series. If this series goes deep, it could end up costing us.

One way it could show up is trying to get an extra inning or two out of Anderson in game 3, with the prospect of bullpen games coming up in games 4 and 5 (if necessary).

Interesting decision to bring up the pitcher who hasn’t really pitched in months due to forearm issues to replace our Ace

What if he’s just all sorts of rusty and out of shape?

I highly doubt they’d call him up if that was the case. He had a rehab start in Gwinnett’s last game for three innings, I’m sure they’ve had him throwing with the rest of the bubble guys over the last few weeks like Webb, Wright, etc.

Go look at the ball call against Smith. It was perhaps the worst framing job ever by TDA.

d’Arnaud is no Tyler Flowers, that’s for sure. I definitely think his framing skills (or lack thereof) represent a big part of this equation.

isn't Tucker a junkball thrower? I really can't remember. I wonder what the Stros's Lefties are doing against off speed pitches versus same handedness.

When asked about the decision to replace injured right-hander Charlie Morton with left-hander Tucker Davidson, Braves general manager Alex Anthopolous said:

"All shall be left-handed. All paws shall be south. There is no place in our new world for those who toil with their right hands."

Canadians have the most interesting way of speaking.

I was thinking about this yesterday. One of these independent leagues needs to restrict itself to all lefties, including infielders and catchers.

Maybe they could even run the bases in the opposite direction.
