GDT 10/3/13: Dodgers (Kershaw) @ Braves (Medlen) - NLDS Game 1 - 8:30 PM

Still can't believe Elliot Johnson, a guy who got cut from the Royals a month and a half ago, is starting 2B for us today in the playoffs.

But boy is it fun for those 2-3 week stretches in the regular season when you get lucky and only face one or two aces, and those free swingers light up the lesser pitchers and put a lot of runs up on the board.

I tried to not buy into it, but it's painfully obvious this team has the pieces to be a very good to great regular season, but is terribly built for the playoffs: three good #2 type pitchers but no ace and an undisciplined, free-swinging, feast or famine lineup. That's just a recipe for playoff disaster.

Always dangerous to make sweeping generalizations based off of one game.

All I know is Reed Johnson has been not so good since his return from the DL. I also know Uggla and BJ have been just as terrible, and Elliot has barely been better than Uggla.

That is the universal you--the no clue comment--not you specifically.

By the way: two ounces Campari, two ounces any non-horrible pinot grigio, splash of seltzer.

Old Itlalian man's cure-all.

Must've been tough for Ernie Johnson Jr. to see his daddy's team and his closet favorite team growing up play so pitiful and have to call the game and give compliments to the Dodgers.

The most I can say is we get to play tommorow minor can not give up 3 early runs or we will be down 0-2 hoping that a rookie will save our season Julio is good but that's a bit of pressure to put on him

The announcers are finding creative ways to remind everyone of their main storyline - The Braves strike out a lot.

"And tomorrow in Game 2 - The Los Angeles Dodgers vs The Atlanta Braves, who led the NL in strikeouts."

For anyone complaining we don't have a true ace, we do. He was sitting on the dugout rail with a healing broken ankle.
