GDT 10/3/13: Dodgers (Kershaw) @ Braves (Medlen) - NLDS Game 1 - 8:30 PM

Just depressing Medlen our best pitcher got hammered while their best pitcher was dominating and we face yet another ace tommorow ugh guess well see what minor and Julio are made of over the next 2 games I'm excited for that bit our offense BLAH

Always dangerous to make sweeping generalizations based off of one game.
I know, I'm just really frustrated. But I'd be lying if I said I hadn't felt all along that we were built for regular season success but built pretty poorly for the playoffs. We've got a lot of really good players, and some young players that I think will eventually be great, but right now we've got some glaring holes that are easier to expose in the playoffs. Add this to 2011 and our playoff futility the last 10-12 years, and I'm like a lot of Braves fans: pessimistic and a little bit cynical.

I don't mean to sound like Debbie Downer, but this has sweep written all over it. Greinke looms tomorrow and he's been better than Kershaw. There is just something about this franchise and the post-season right. They've lost like 7 consecutive home games in the playoffs.

Last postseason home game win was Game 2, 2005 against Clemens where McCann hit a 3-run homerun.

Our rotation is good I'm not worried about not having an ace I'd love to have one but our main concern is getting an offense that puts the ball in play ALOT more and has more speed and since when do we not have speed Bj,Justin, Jason, andleton and Elliot Johnson

Also don't know if this has been mentioned, but Chipper Jones who swore off twitter, took to it earlier tonight to convey his displeasure with the mascot catching the first pitch from him, and he should be mad, I thought that was strange at the time.

What mid-market team even thinks about the playoffs? Just getting to the playoffs IS the success.

That said, I think we're still in this. If we had to lose, I like losing like this, embarrassing. Now we can come back out with a real chip on our shoulder. People not only think we will lose, but that we don't really deserve to be here. That's the underlying message of all that strikeout talk, that you can't expect to win striking out that much, and if you can't win why are you even here in the first place. Time to bow up and get mad...and start swinging really hard.

Yep, I still remember thom brennaman's call:

"... He's (mccann) money tonight. "

"Hammered in to right center. They said he was money, he's money tonight."

Sigh. One of the few Braves playoff memories I have to be proud of. And Mac's post-game press conference saying it was "neat".

Forget about tonight and go get them tomorrow. All they can do. Hard to win when Clayton Kershaw is on the bump for the other team

More disappointing is that Kershaw didn't have his best stuff for the majority of his start and we couldn't do pretty much anything on him.

Still can't believe Elliot Johnson, a guy who got cut from the Royals a month and a half ago, is starting 2B for us today in the playoffs.

I can't believe that he apparently thinks he craps big enough to swing at a 2-0 ****ball against a guy whom he has no prayer of hitting and who has just walked the previous batter.

I mean, that was like the third chair viola in tonight's symphony of fail, but nevertheless . . .

Someone asked earlier, if you're Elliot Johnson why are you swinging at a 2-0 fastball against a pitching lord.

I simply said the answer was "That's why you're Elliot Johnson."

You got it.

Unsurprisingly, Clemens was not exactly complentary afterwards, hah!

But yeah, whenever there's gonna be a chop country get together, it's gonna be like a big group therapy session for all our playoff memories.

Here's to making some new (better) ones this year.

I tend to forget that I need to carefully post on this message board. Words tend to get twisted in another way besides how they were meant to. Hahaha :happy0157:
