Since Snit refused to break up the string of LHH with Swanson, the Cards are going to be able to neuter the Braves lineup 3-7 for a full turn with Miller (likely pitching around JD). They will also be able to do it 2 more times with the other 2 LHP on the roster.

If they get any sort of a rally going Snit must be ready to use Cervelli and/or Hech in those spots.

Duvall too.

I feel that's why we went with the 6 man bench. Those righties will be available at his disposal if this situation comes up.

Ortega is going to get at least one very high leverage AB in this series against Martinez or Gallegos.

I'd be curious to know if we can even burn Hech as a pinch hitter. In the event of an injury to one of our middle infielders, we'd have no replacement.

It's unquestionably why the Braves have Cervelli on the bench. As I said yesterday, the parts are there...Snit just has to use them correctly.

Hamilton was a shortstop coming up. Wonder if he's been taking grounders.

Agreed. At some point in the middle/late innings a LHP is going to brought in to face Markakis/Joyce/Mac in a big spot, and even Snit will be able to realize he must use a RHH like Duvall to counter. If that LHP isn't Miller, the Cards will likely immediately switch to a RHP to counter Duvall (they may let Miller face him). At that point Snit must be ready to switch back to someone like Ortega vs that RHP.

When the lineup turns over again and the Cards use another LHP to face Ortega, Snit must be ready with whichever RHH remains on the bench. If that guy isn't Duvall, Snit will then have to use Hamilton as a defensive replacement in that spot.

It is possible the 6 or 7 spot in the lineup sees 5 guys go through it tonight if it just so happens to come up in several high leverage spots.

It seems pretty apparent the front office is heavily grooming Snit on what to do here. A snit approach would be to run the standard lineup out there everyday, and go with the guys who got him here.

Having said all that, a good simple plan for Duvall might be to only use him against Miller, as he is likely the only LHP the Cards will actually let him face.

You are such a simpleton.

At least 15% of each Southern state is African-American. (We don't count Kentucky, WVA, or Texas)

Meanwhile, the state you live in is like 9%?

Why do you hate the South again? Because we eat a lot of good food?

Not a good look.

Snitker has been willing to hook Joyce if the situation requires it (especially later though), but with Markakis there's no way in heck he gets hooked, and with McCann I'm a bit doubtful too. So, considering that they will not be hooking Markakis, Miller still gets to face two lefties and a guy that's struggled against LHP this season in Donaldson.
