GDT 10/4 - Braves at Marlins: reel in the division title

Mississippi?

Okay we have to get a group together to go to the watch parties wearing those

Baltimore game is legendary. That’s my favorite comeback game ever. (Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to watch the Brooks Conrad walk off)

I just looked up the box score of that game. I completely forgot how horrible Chipper was the first half of 2004. He was hitting .215.

That was probably the only slump of his career.

I'm there too.

Seeing Eli Marrero GOAT, and Jaret Wright GOAT. And the first time Braves fans on Scout started really paying attention to OPS (thanks to JD Drew being so good despite not hitting like 40 bombs).

Baltimore game is probably one of the most unforgettable ones in all of the last 30 years.

I still love 2005 though, just because Smoltz returning to being a dominant starter, and Andruw's GOAT season that was robbed of an MVP.

The Baltimore game was the best. Literally every season after that when the team was struggling and had a big win "this was the baltimore game" Clearly for the Braves this year it was June 1st

Just a reminder if we go against St. Louis/Ryan Helsley get ready to hear him bitching about the chop…
If we play the Cardinals I might just chop from the starting lineup. I’d be half tempted to dress up like Chief Screaming Chicken from the 1960s Batman series.

Helmsley can KMA. I was so mad during that series that the main topic of conversation at the end was his whining.

I believe due to his complaining in that series, he's the main reason the Braves no longer give out the foam tomahawks. They gave them in game 1 and 2 but not 5 and I don't think anytime after.

I'm not sure whether I prefer the Phillies or the Cardinals. I actually think Philly is scarier given the Cards don't have anyone to match up with Wheeler-Nola-Ranger. Plus, they've got a deep lineup and strong bullpen.

But dammit, I still have nightmares about the 2019 series and would prefer to just not play the Cardinals and any capacity in the playoffs.

Jesus guys.. last time we faced the Cards we pitch Dallas and Folty twice. We literally have 4 pitchers who are better than both of them. I would love to curb stomp the Cards in DS.

the extra wild card games are like every other sport. they give hope to teams that shouldn't have any and there will be a time when that 3rd wild card makes it to the WS or even wins it... but ultimately, it just waters down the season and makes actually getting to the playoffs not a huge accomplishment. I mean you look at the Braves and I would say they will make it to the playoffs for the next 6-8 years barring major injuries or regression from core guys. This team is a top 6 NL team..

In the end, it is all about the money.. more playoff games equal more money.. why every sport is moving that way. NCAA now 8.. Basketball is half the league.. NFL has 30 wild card teams I think. Hockey.. does anyone watch hockey.

And the bad thing about baseball is there is no salary cap, so teams like the Dodgers and Yankees are always going to be in the playoffs, because they can always buy a top 6 team if they need to.

MLB dragging their feet to announce Friday game times. This shoulda been done last night as soon as the padres won. Give people as much notice as possible to travel
