Im assuming all the charges will be dropped like they were 4 years ago for the 200 people arrested during the inauguration riots
 
Hard to argue. But the usual suspects will simply scream false equivalency and move on. We live in a post truth society

They are not going to drop charges of an insurrection

Thankfully the guy they went to war with America for didn’t win and they lost at the ballot and in their attack against democracy

BLM protests lasted months with hundreds of thousands participating and under 30 people died.

In one day of a failed coup 5 people died. By my quick wikipedia research, the deadliest day during Floyd protests was June 1st where 6 people died across 6 different cities.

I mean that’s simply not true. Biden spoke out against the violent part of the BLM protests on multiple occasions.

It’s partly the Trump effect, both for and against him. Trump himself screaming voter fraud from the rooftops and arguing for 2 months to overturn the election absolutely caused the environment to be more hostile to the idea of challenging the results. It’s also the case that opposition to Trump led to a more critical view of the process than we’d otherwise expect.

It also is different in the scope of support of the objection despite a lack of evidence. As far as I can tell, 7 Democratic House members objected with no Senators joining in. Biden openly objected to challenging the results at the time, and no serious attention was paid to the idea of the challenge. By contrast, an absurd amount of House Republicans and several Senators delayed the process by objecting and were spurred on by Trump. That’s a pretty major difference in situations.

I agree with why we care now.

But were these anti-democratic fascists as the board lecturer refers to today's dissenrers?
 
anyone who votes to disenfranchise an entire state just cuz the results didn't go their way is engaging in profoundly anti-democratic behavior and deserves shunning and censure by polite society
