I'll start, I did not support Biden. I still think he's a bad choice. But he's going to be our president so I'm hoping he is one of the greatest presidents we ever have. I congratulate those who are winners in this and hope you made the right decision.

For the record, I didn't support Trump either.

I didn't support Biden in the primaries either. But considering how much damage Trump has done and divide he's created in our country, Biden probably is at least the one to try and close the divide. He at least has had a history of trying to work with Republicans (to the dismay of the left).

I'll take 4 years of just getting back to some type of normalcy, over 4 more years of Trump.

Ultimately, the only way Trumpism dies is within the Republican Party itself. But I don't see that happening anytime soon, as the Party needs a chunk of that MAGA base if they have any hope of winning the Presidency again. People think there's a civil war going on in the Dem Party, but there's no way a Romney type is going to win 2024 for the GOP. MAGA folks didn't even like Romney types to begin with, so they probably won't turn out for one if one is nominated in 2024. So instead of a moderate like Romney, the right will have to try to find someone that can appease the MAGA base enough without scaring off independents by using Trumpism.

Cruz has tried to position himself as that guy, but Trump has already destroyed Cruz's brand four years ago. Before Cruz was just unlikeable. Now everyone sees he's just a joke.

funny how now people are calling for "right"

that ship has kinda sailed
///////////

personal note:
I live around MAGA and have to find common ground.
Even as they lay racial epithets on other neighbors. Even as they " spew" hatred aimed at people of color or those that politically disagree with them.
Even as they flaunt their MAGA flag next to a Latino families house.
Not even a kinda FU but, I dont even know what or why a grown adult expects from such behavior.

I will probably not reach out to make common ground but will continue to sleep with one eye opened around them
And constantly know where my wallet is

You have some strange ideas. It's never wrong to behave correctly. The idea that others doing wrong allows you to do wrong is...well...wrong.

remember when trump withheld COVID aid to states with governors who didn’t praise him?
but yes trump never really hurt anybody and we should be cordial.

remember when a republican governor had to get PPE from south korea and called in his state national guard so the trump’s fed lackies wouldn’t confiscate it?
i remember.
but yeah he was totally harmless.

it's very hard to take seriously claims that no one was harmed by the unique brand of incompetence and venality that we have seen the past four years...this was the case before the pandemic and is now doubly true...the damage he has done is enormous...much of it intangible in terms of erosion of norms and institutions, but enormous nonetheless

Actually some are doing it to their credit.

The silent majority are one standard deviation from the center - both right and left.

The majority of people are Americans are content with the outcome. Biden will do well. I think his policy choices will be poor, but he’s a good statesman that will represent the US with dignity. I buy the argument that’s more important right now than ideology.

A silver lining to this is a renewed interest in government and civic duty. Trump deserves credit for this outcome (even if it’s accidental).

If there had been this much interest in politics in the 2000’s the Bush administration would have been much different.

Biden was my plan B, as I suspect he was for many people.

During the summer of 2016, I changed my registration from Republican to Independent because I didn't want to be associated with a party that would nominate someone like very poorly chosen one. Voted for Hillary.

Then in 2019, I realized that being an independent would cost me a vote in the primaries. So I registered Democratic with the idea of voting for Amy Klobuchar. I don't think the primary was ever held in New York. It kept getting pushed back after the pandemic and by then credibly accused creepy joe had wrapped things up. But he was my second choice, so I'm pretty happy with how things turned out.

SAV was right. Gonna be 306 for Biden. That's a shellacking anyway you spin it.

Yall seem to be seeing something thats not there.

Trump got 8M more votes than he got in 2016 (and counting). He got 5 million MORE votes than HRC (and counting)... During a pandemic and 4 years of relentless hatred from the media and the left.

Napkin math shows me maybe 40,000 votes would have swung this to his victory.

Down ballot GOP substantially out performed.

Biden got more votes than Trump... But Trumps support was record breaking. This wasnt some nationwide repudiation of the orange man

It's funny because it was the same number Trump defeated Hillary by.

So if Trump says he destroyed and beat her by a landslide, then he just got destroyed by his own score.

But Trunp didnt landslide HRC. He barely won.

Why do people fixate on what he says so much. The man does nothing but bloviate and exaggerate reality. Just tune it out

I have tuned it out.

But I enjoy bullies getting served the same **** that they dish out. I also enjoy seeing his diehard supporters use their mental gymnastics to defend him at any cost.

That's true, too.

I feel a little sorry for Pence. It was a good bet that T would have to step down at some point and he'd become POTUS. All that emasculating sycophancy for nothing.

"Mother!!!"
