I also find it hard to believe people cant see Trump for who he is but we need to respect that we all get a vote. The problem as I see it is we do not have a third option. I feel like we desperately need ranked choice voting because every election feels like both sides vote the alternative as literal Hitler.

I remember when I thought Romney was a scumbag because he said “if you need money to start a business, borrow some money from your parents”. I dropped my R registration in disgust when Palin was added to McCains ticket because I saw it as a pathetic ploy to win Hilary voters.

Boy was I stupid back then. I would kill for joy to have Romney in the white house right now.

Based on today, not too much I can say in defense. The anger I feel today, I assure you, is not hollow.

I give people a hard time around here, mostly due to a character flaw of being amused by riling people up. So 95% of what I say isn’t as serious as it sounds, and I mostly don’t mean any of it.

Having said that, in true honesty, I can’t fathom how someone with your amount of intelligence couldn’t see what was going on. The only conclusion I can draw is that you were willing to say “he is scum, but I’ll deal with the scum because he gets me something I want”.

There is literally no other conclusion to be drawn. I have a feeling many trump supporters are in that same boat, and I can’t understand how any policy views could outweigh the negatives of trumpism.

I can't either. They guy is so spectacularly and obviously unfit for any position of responsibility. It's there for anyone to see. It takes a willful suspension of judgment not to see it.

It's baffling to me. This was staged by Donny's Administration. I'm sure of it. Like what other answer is there that they chould have a battalion of national guardsmen defending the Capitol for BLM protests, but a "Stop the Steal" rally that was almost certainly going to do this basically gets a free pass. I'm not saying calling the NG in to protect the Capitol from BLM protestors wasn't a smart idea, but how was there not more planned to protect the federal government from a bunch of Trumpers? I've seen night clubs and weed shops with better security.

I guess the best way I can say it, just speaking for me, is seeing the stock market getting as high as it did and seeing my 401K get higher, the unemployment numbers being what they were (before the pandemic) and the peace deals in the Mideast and thought "OK, this may just work". All that I guess gave us the justification to accept him for what he is. But, I'd be lying if the thought crossed my mind of seeing his volatile nature resurfacing. I guess I just hoped it wouldn't. Today, it was on display for the world to see. Just makes me mad now.

Keep in mind that the conservative point of view is essential in moderating government.

You've been cheerleading the side that excused the BLM riots for months. That side did and said as much to start and to stop those as Trump did this, and their cause was no more honest. Lots of malleable Americans these days.
