Mayor of DC has no control over capitol grounds.

But believe your conspiracy theory, even if Mayor Bowser put in a request for National Guard support and got it So why didn't the Capitol Police Board?

And incase you didn't notice, yes Capitol Police is different than DC Metro

So yeah, blame someone who has nothing to do with it because she has a D next to her name.

I literally posted the letter that she sent DoD yesterday, requesting that no additional federal forces be in the District beyond the unarmed Guard troops who were already there for logistical support. And I'm explaining that there wasn't a conspiracy. Just incompetence and lawlessness.

Also nothing in our experience could prepare us for the possibility that the executive branch would incite a mob against the legislative branch. Only in retrospect can we say Capitol police needed to get ready for this. Maybe there were a couple cassandras out there warning about it. I'm not aware of it.

Yep. And I think Bowser, Capitol Police, and a lot of other people believed what so many right wing commentators used to say, that stuff only happens on the left. Success breeds imitation.

And what issues were there in DC Metro's jurisdiction?

No one seems to be able to answer that questio for me.

Again, what issues happened in the jurisdiction of DCM police?

I'm gonna keep asking until you give me an answer.

Unless I'm wrong, everything that was planned was planned to happen in DCM jurisdiction. So if there was any concern about violence leading up to the riot, it would be on DCM to beef up their presence.

The problem is there is no history of these rallies turning into riots. If there had been you better believe there would have been armed National Guard in the area.

So are you advocating that DCM police arrest people before committing a crime?

I think now I've said it 10 times? Capitol Police are not the same as DCM.

Republicans who spent years putting off a reckoning with Mr. Trump over his dangerous behavior are now confronting a disturbing prospect: that Wednesday’s episode of violence, incited by Mr. Trump’s remarks, could linger for decades as a stain on the party — much as the Watergate break-in and the Great Depression shadowed earlier generations of Republicans.

many stains will linger...one of the biggest ones involves the 100 plus Congressmen who voted to throw out the electoral votes of Arizona and Pennsylvania

And don't forget the domestic terrorism laws Biden is preparing

"The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is prepared for this week's First Amendment activities. MPD has coordinated with its federal partners, namely the US Park Police, US Capitol Police, and the US Secret Service-all of whom regularly have uniformed personnel protecting federal assets in the District of Columbia"

It was a coordinated effort, as is reasonable when multiple protests in various areas are planned.
She called up 340 National Guard ahead of time, because she has that authority.
She specified that they be unarmed and in support roles. Again, reasonable, because they aren't trained or experienced police.
She didn't want any other extra support in the entire District, including on the Capitol grounds.

I'm not sure if that addresses what you're asking about or not.

Do you have a link to the NYT article about the stain on the Democratic party caused by all of the death, fire, and destruction of this Summer? My interneting skills are weak because I'm having a hard time finding it.

I do agree with you on the votes to disenfranchise entire states. It was wrong when the other guys did it, it's wrong today, and it will be wrong the next time, when the other guys do it effectively and have people refer to this as an excuse.
