GDT #113 8/5: Braves (Wood) at Mariners (F. Hernandez)

I haven't done this in forever it seems, so I figured I'd try a game day thread. This is a bit earlier than I would normally do this but I have work tonight, so I'm hoping we can somehow get a win against Hernandez and start a winning streak! The starting pitching has been pretty good the whole West Coast trip, but the offense and bullpen has been atrocious. So, that just needs to improve!

I doubt Fredi has the balls to change the lineup, so my projected lineup is:

BJ Upton CF

La Stellar 2B

Freeman 1B

JUP LF

Gattis DH

Heyward RF

CJoh 3B

Laird C

Simmons SS

Though I'd say let's go:

Boni CF

La Stella 2B

Freeman 1B

JUP RF

Gattis DH

Heyward RF

CJoh 3B

Laird C

Simmons SS

Let's hope for the best, a win and a turn around... and quick!

I'm not even a big Bonifacio fan but if we traded for him... Freaking play him when our current CFer can't hit a beach ball!!

Look, you can put a muppet in CF if you want, but Heyward still needs to be leading off.

I feel like when you have an elite base runner that putting him in a spot where guys can drive him would be an ideal situation but I'm not an expert like Fredi and everyone else that feels like Jason is best suited for the 5th spot.

I hardly chime in on all the lineup rosterbating that goes on here, but I wouldn't bat Heyward other than first or second because he hasn't hit for any power. My .02

He'd be fine in the 3 hole. It's not like he's not capable of hitting for power. Just having a weird season.

I'd hate to group the slow guys together but I'd prefer Freeman hitting 5th(assuming TLS has to hit 2nd and Fredi doesn't let Heyward leadoff anymore). We'd have better scoring opportunities with Heyward and Upton on base in front of him then a slow runner like Freddie being on base in front of Upton and Heyward. Ideally Heyward and Justin would be hitting 1st and 2nd with Freddie hitting 3rd but that doesn't seem to be an option like last year when the offense was pretty good with that combo.

BECAUSE WE HAVE TO HAVE TRADITIONAL LEADOFF HITTER. DUH.
