GDT #114 8/6/14 @SEA 3:40 ET

I knew this trip would be rough before they left but I didn't in my wildest dreams think they would lose all 8 games. This doesn't happen with any kind of veteran leadership, because McCann, Chipper or Hudson would have been reaming this team a new one. Lots of this team's problems stem from lack of leadership. This team should be pissed off and embarrassed, instead they will come up with some kind of excuse after the game. Makes me want to throw up.

you must have missed the vibe; you're supposed to be making fun of people blaming our woes on lack of leadership.

Keep in mind, it's pretty much on Wren and co. for letting all the veteran leadership go. He also let them all go very fast and only in a few years. No excuse for not at least keeping Huddy around, IMO. I can't blame him on Chipper retiring and it made sense to let Mac go given his decline and contract demands. But he should've brought in some replacements, and probably shouldn't have let team favorite Reed Johnson go either.

Not keeping Hudson or adequately replacing him was beyond stupid. Uggla. BJ. Lowe. Kawakami. Fredi. Wren has made some devastating mistakes.

How was Wren to know Uggla and BJ would be so bad? Lowe was a desperation signing, I didn't like it, but I understood it. Kawakami was untested in the majors and wasn't horrible the first few years.

I'd never have guessed Uggla and BJ would pan so badly.

I miss Chipper Jones. :(

How was Wren to know Uggla's presence was so crucial? Releasing him looks like a terrible mistake.

It's his job.

It's his job.

Sure it's his job, but who would have predicted BOTH would hit sub .200 last year? BJ was overpaid, but I think most of us including Wren wouldn't have seen that far ahead.

Uggla is paid thru 2015? That's what sucks. We need someone next year.

We've all had problems with this team but not in my worst fears did I figure we would be playing like this. This is our 2nd losing streak of 7 games or more already this season. I'm not sure what can be done other then blowing up the offense and starting from scratch, but the extensions make that difficult. Does anyone have any rational and possible things that can be done over the offseason ? I still do not think pitching is the problem they are probably pressing again knowing that they can not make any mistakes because the offense will not help them out.

This is where a lack of a true number 1 ace comes in. If Julio Teheran was a true ace, there is no way in hell a true ace would surrender a lead after he's spotted a 3-1 lead. An ace should be your stopper and we don't have that right now. Although with any offense at all, this team would have won at least half of those games.

If we don't make the playoffs, I can definitely see Fredi getting fired, along with (possibly) Wren. I like Wren, but he has made some terrible mistakes. Fair or not.

All in all, it's not fun being a Braves fan, or a Brave for that matter.

If I have learned anything over the years it the qualifications of a true ace.

1. True aces never give up runs

2. True aces go 9 innings at least half the time.

3. True aces close games on their off days.

4. True aces hit at least 5 homers a year

5. True aces strike out every hitter batting below .300.

6. True aces bunt for triples

7. True aces can convince the manager not to bat the worst hitter on the team leadoff.

8. True aces can kill birds with their fastball

9. True aces pitch better the more injured they are.

10. True aces are mythical creatures

Really cannot bring this team back again next year, have to make substantive changes. And its a lot easier to change managers than players. Don't have to overpay free agents or try to fleece another team's GM,as you could easily be the fleecee. There's no major league ready talent in our system, we have to figure it out with the guys we have.

Will it matter? I think so. And not because of the in game strategic blunders; hindsight makes all losing managers look wrong.
Fredi's teams just don't play like they're worried about screwing up. We need a new mindset. New manager, new coaches.

If we are going to rebuild then a new GM would be my call. This guy hasn't earned his keep.

Teheran is our ace and he is most definately not a problem he had a bad game so what? He is not Kershaw but we don't need him to be that and even Kershaw needs offensive help

Cut the ****. He was pitching in a much more winnable game when we BADLY needed one. And he didn't get it done. Not to single him out because our whole team has been a pile of dog**** in every phase lately. But he still didn't get it done.

Agree.
