GDT #15, 4/17/'14: Braves (Wood) vs Philthies (Burnett); Gattis day off

having seen Gattis play left, I'd rest him if he shouldn't catch. He'd need a 3 RBI day to breakeven.

Gattis is bad defensively in the outfield, but have you seen Doumit? At best he's no better and 50 might argue that he's worse. That said, I do agree that he should either catch or rest. Gattis himself said it was hard going back and forth from catcher to outfield and that he prefers catching. So as long as he's our starting catcher I'd mostly use him there. I'd probably be more willing to use him at first when Freeman needs a day off than in the outfield again.

Burnett has struggled in his career against the Braves (10-4), going 5-12 with a 4.14 ERA in 21 appearances and losing seven of his last eight decisions.

He's had trouble with Gerald Laird (5 for 8)

Phils resting Howard and Ruiz and using their 3rd 3b in three days, Nix. Apears they are still looking for an everyday 3b. They ought to call Placido Polanco. (only half joking there)

Fredi, Fredi, Fredi. Look here. You have a guy that has 5 homers in 24 at bats in Philly. same guy has 20 homers in 367 ABs everywhere else.

THink you may want to play him everyday in Philly? No?

We dont have an off-day for awhile, i know we technically had one on Tue.

But day game after night game, makes sense, was planned ahead.

Our next scheduled off-day might be Thursday, so i dont see the huge deal with sitting Gattis, but he is scorching hot right now with the bat.

Wood is going to penetrate hard, long, and deep. And when it's over, you'll have a smile plastered all over your face.
