Just a question, how many runs do you get if you hit a homer? What about if there is a runner on base when you hit a homer?
You get 1 with a HR.
And 2 with a runner on base.
It's no lock Gattis hits a HR today.
Are you actually asking this question in a serious manner?
Its no lock that Freeman gets a hit, but do you take your chances with him over a pitcher? Or Laird?
Yes, we had 3 or 4 hits off Burnett.
It's hardly a lock he gets a hit/HR off Burnett.
It's a 162-game season, your catcher cant play every game.
Day game after night game, pretty easy decision to make.
Freeman had runners on base and didnt score them, but Gattis would, got it.
If you're saying hit Gattis for Wood, sure.
This loss is on the manager in so many ways! Where do we start? Playing Hayward right now is stupid. Give the guy a day off or move him out of the leadoff spot. 2nd when its a 0-0 game that late in the game you have to score that run from 2nd. Letting Wood hit for himself there is one of the worst coaching moves ever. That guy has to be moved to 3rd. So I guess your leaving Wood in to give up the eventual winning run in the bottom of that inning. We will never win in the post season with him and I wish we could get someone in here that knows how to freaking manage.
Oh and last but not least he didn't play the hottest player in the world right now. UNREAL!!!
Gattis has now rested in 3 of the last 5 days

Burnett didn't pitch the 8th or 9th, Gattis could've hit one of those innings. That's usually how it works for him (see last year).
Who do you hit him for, CJ?
Of course you probably hit for Wood but he was dealing.

CJ, Laird, BJ, Pitcher........
