GDT #18, 4/20/14: Braves (Hale) @ Mets (Wheeler) 1:10 PM

Just had time to look back at the highlights... referring back to Harper's lack of hustle for the Nats... sad to see that JUP had a bit of his own lack of hustle on his triple. He was basically jogging from home to first... rounded first at a decent clip and then slowed again before picking it back up. He was standing at third before the cut-off man even got the ball. If he was running full speed, he scores.

Oh well, though. Can't win them all.

Big difference on how the two organizations handle these things, and I'm thinking our approach is better. Old school types love it when their mgr chews the star players ass out for not hustling but over time in most cases its the mgr who loses, not the player. Matt Williams is already on a slippery slope. He's come over from the D'Backs, where they favor grit over talent. They must have thought that's what they needed, I'm not sure it'll work.

Not really a fan of Fredi overall, but the more laisse faire approach with guys like Justin is wise, IMO. He is what he is (Justin)

Would have been nice to get the sweep, but games like this will happen, and we won a series on the road. 18 games in we're 12-6 and 2nd best record in the NL. Definitely would have signed up for that to start the season.

The biggest players manager off all-time would bench players for lack of hustle. (Bobby)

In the end, talent wins. If the talent is good enough, it makes it look as if the manager made the right call.

p.s. no chance Justin scores on that.

Disagree. Still think the Nats are more talented than the Braves, and they certainly didn't win last year. Managers having the ability to get the most out of their players trumps the most talent sometimes.
