GDT: 19 July 2013: Braves at White Sox

Remember when everyone was calling Tim Hudson done? Last 9 starts - 61 2/3 IP, 51 H, 7 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 21 R, 19 ER, 16 BB, 41 SO, 2.77 ERA. He's gone at least 7 innings in 7 of those starts.

I don't know. I still don't think I would want him there on the mound in a big game. I'm glad he has done well but sometimes he just doesn't have it all. Maybe he was just fighting an injury earlier in the year.

Well he hasn't had a bad start in those 9 starts. He had a few bad starts in a row. It's called a slump. It happens to pitchers just like hitters. Whatever he was doing wrong he corrected it and he's back to being the Tim Hudson we all know and love.

People laugh at that aspect but if they can sneak into the playoffs I wouldn't want to play them.

Same, that 1-2-3 has been nasty.

That's all I will say.

Assuming you are talking about Washington.

Wow... well... maybe we can try to track her down.

Yeah, if I remember right, a few people were complaining about that being all she did. All I know is I looked forward to the "we won" posts. Some people will complain about anything...

Why would people complain about her posting we won? She was just another fan celebrating her chosen team's success.

On a different note place me in the non supporter of Heywood category. I want him to do well because he is on our team but I am personally not a fan. If Wren can package him to get an TOR pitcher I would be thrilled. I just don't think he will become the player that many believes he will be. And I have met him before and thought he was a jerk. On the other extreme of likeability is David Ross. Now that is a cool dude.

Thought he got him at home, but no complaining so I guess not.

I had a great view of the play from my seat, and I was convinced Ramirez didn't beat the tag; White Sox fans around me were definitely (happily) surprised.

When I was at the game for Chipper's # Retirement against Zona, I was sitting by a bunch of casual/fairweather fans.

Anyhow, whenever Andrelton came to bat I kept saying "Come on Andrelton, no popups please". Then he'd pop up 2-3 times and I'd laugh everytime and they'd all give me the mean look. When BJ went up, I kept saying "Don't need a K here BJ." When he finally got a double in the 8th I think, I actually said "Alright BJ, you've struck out enough today, get a 2 bagger here". They all looked at me like this O_O

Ok so he might not be done, but still have no interest in investing in a 39 yo pitcher in 2014. Love the front of the jersey not the name on the back.

Guys like Hudson don't grow on trees.

We'd be in better shape if Huddy took a discount to stay another year with a mutual option in 2015, and trade off Minor/Beachy/Medlen. One of those would net us a bigger return (probably Minor since he hasn't had TJ). Well you say "who's going to start?" Other than Minor, Medlen and Beachy kind of flew under the radar through our system and look at where they're at now. I have full confidence in our organization that shoudl we lose a Medlen/Beachy/Minor, they could produce another gem in the rough to pitch.

Personally if it were up to me I'd trade Alex Wood. I'm not a huge fan of his mechanics. His out of balance mechanics, is what's going to hamper him from pitching deep in ball games (all that knee bending/body twisting and twitching is giong to be detrimental).

I'd go with a Minor, Medlen, Hudson, Beachy, Teheran rotation next year if possible. Maholm is gone for sure, and Wood is still the odd man out despite coming up and pitching OK.

I'd say Wood being a lefty has more value than Medlen or Beachy, and I think he might be a guy you can sell high on.

She got banned a few yrs back for only doing her trademark post. Whatever. Very indicative of the problems on that board. Someone should track her down...

She did not get banned for that. She did it every game we won. I think I remember her saying something about not going to be around for a while. Hope she's alright.

If that's what you got out of that post than you totally missed the point. The point was in no way, shape, form or fashion has Tim Hudson earned his way to being demoted to the bullpen like many here were calling for back in May.

If you called him Heywood, no wonder he was a jerk.
