GDT--2/27/18--Pirates

Did anyone hear anything about how Josh Graham was throwing? He is supposed to be nasty and I wish I could have seen him throw.

So our starting SS is the third best SS on the roster? The Braves Way.

Where would the Braves be if the 2 best SSs on the roster weren't already in place before Coppy/Hart acquired the 3rd best SS in the only good move they made in 3 years?

I kid, I kid. I think Swanson is still the best SS on the roster.

This thread reminds me why I love this board. The GDT threads can be pure gold at times.

Well, that and Rico's minors updates.

I believe in Swanson. I also think there is a chance (higher than I'd like) where Ozzie is at short, Camargo is at 2nd, and we get a legit 3B option to start 2018.

I just don't think Camargo has the range for MI, though infield defense has become less and less valuable the last few years.

If Camargo doesn't show enough power to be a 2-3 win guy at 3B, I don't think he's an everyday player. I think the odds of him showing that kind of power are a little worse than 50/50, so unless the Braves can get a smoking deal on Mous, I think the correct course of action is to "see what they have" with Camargo.

Its a scenario I've been mulling too. It would be one way to increase the amount of pop in the lineup. There would be some sacrifice on the defensive side. But net it is a scenario that could work out to the team's benefit.

Neil walker is probably pretty cheap now.

IF you could get a haul for Dansby, move ALbies to short and sign walker then you'd be ok. Walker could be a prado type.

At this point it looks like we see if Comargo and/or Ruiz is a MLB player.

He certainly doesn't have the range for short but I think he would be adequate at 2nd. It's a scenario I'd rather not go with as Swanson at SS and Albies at 2nd is ideal. And hopefully we get a legit 3B in 2019 anyways and if Camargo shows to be a legit player then he could a super utility player.

I think we will get a power bat for third ....he will replace the weakest link in this year's infield...whoever that turns out to be
