GDT #21, 4/23/14: Marlins (Eovaldi) @ Braves (Harang), 12:10

Or, in this case:

That is stunningly appropriate.

take it with a grain of salt, the Marlins are a bad hitting team.

The marlins aren't as bad of hitting team as last year. The infield is crappy but their outfield is prett good. A era under 1 is great even if we were facing a AAA team. I don't remember dominating the Astros like this and they had an A ball lineup.

We got a vintage Mike Mussina season out of John Burkett just one season after we claimed him when the Devil Rays released him, so a good year out of Harang wouldn't be the unlikeliest thing to ever happen on the Turner Field pitcher's mound.

And honestly, pitchers are just weird. Things fall apart for no reason, then suddenly click for no reason. Some of us are old enough to remember when the Giants first traded Ryan Vogelsong. With Armando Rios. For Jason Schmidt. He gets his head beaten in for Pittsburgh, disappears, then shows up five years later and contends for an ERA title. You just try and ride the wave while you can.

As the late Joaquin Andujar said when asked what his favorite English word was, he responded, "It's 'youneverknow.'"

Harang has been up and down during his career, but it's not like the guy has been total junk. It's about getting in a good groove and he's certainly in one now.

Wish I never had to see Paul Byrd ever again. After JS signed that scrub to that absurb 2 year deal along with acquiring Hampton and Ortiz, lead to the trading of my boy Milly. Plus I absolutely could not stand watching that guy pitch, flopping his freakin wings like a hawk.

I agree the starting pitching has been better than anyone could of have imagined. They will falter a little bit, but I suspect they will be one of the best rotations all season long.

The offense is what I am most worried about though. Can't complain too much because we are winning games though.

The Braves have been average offensively this season so far and that's with extreme struggles from various players. Some have shown improvement. Some haven't. And someone has a potential replacement at a moments notice. Still, I will take great pitching, great defense, and an average offense. That formula wins a lot of games. That said it's early as I still expect this offense to be in the top 5 of the NL when the season is over.
